EWING, N.J. – The College of New Jersey's Ally Tobler scored three goals and the Lions held on for an 8-6 non-conference win against the Hamilton College Continentals at TCNJ's Field Hockey and Lacrosse Complex on Wednesday afternoon.
Season Update
- Nationally ranked No. 22 Hamilton (1-3 overall) has played three teams that are in the current Top 25 coaches poll.
- The third-ranked Lions remained undefeated at 5-0.
How It Happened
- TCNJ led 4-0 after one quarter, 5-1 at the half and 7-2 through 45 minutes.
- The Continentals rallied in the fourth quarter and nearly caught the Lions. Aine Cleary '25, who scored Hamilton's first two goals, found the back of the net again with a free-position shot 56 seconds into the fourth. Cleary made it 7-4 with 12:06 left after Sarah Moore '23 picked up a ground ball.
- TCNJ called a timeout but the Continentals won the ensuing draw. Sydney Klepper '26 found Alana King '24 for another goal 32 seconds later.
- Hamilton pulled within one at 7-6 with 6:20 remaining. Olivia Chiota '24 scored on another free-position shot and the Continentals had the momentum.
- Alex Orlando '25 controlled the next draw for Hamilton, but the Continentals turned the ball over and the Lions worked the shot clock. Tobler eventually scored a free-position goal with 4:14 to go.
- Hamilton managed two shots in the final four minutes, a free-position attempt that sailed wide with about three minutes left, and a shot that was saved by the TCNJ goalkeeper in the closing seconds.

- Klepper was credited with two assists and has a team-high five.

- Anna Devlin chipped in a goal, two assists and four draws for the Lions.
- Anna Wright scored two goals and Morgan Vaccaro added a goal and an assist.
- Wayden Ay caused four turnovers and Larissa Hatzold scooped up four ground balls.
- Julia Charest turned away 12 shots in goal for TCNJ.
- The Lions scored four goals on six free-position shots.
- The teams were playing each other for the first time since the 2001 NCAA championship quarterfinals.
