DAVENPORT, Fla. – The Hamilton College Continentals dropped two one-run, non-conference games at Northeast Regional Park in Davenport, Fla., on Monday night.
Season Update
- Hamilton (0-3 overall) was edged 3-2 by Springfield College and then outlasted by Oswego State 3-2 in 11 innings in the nightcap. The Continentals will be back in action with another non-conference twinbill against Concordia College-Moorhead (Minn.) starting at 9:15 a.m. back at Northeast Regional Park.
Springfield
How It Happened
- Springfield opened the scoring in the second inning with one run and plated one more in the third.
- Hamilton countered with a run in the bottom half of the inning. Jackson Sattinger '24 singled to left center and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Greg Kopp '25 drove Sattinger home on a hit through the right side.
- After three scoreless innings, Springfield took a 3-1 lead with one run on one hit and two errors in the seventh.
- The Continentals attempted to rally in the bottom of the ninth when pinch-hitter Shane Dux '24 led off with a no-doubter over the left field fence. Despite Phil Bernstein '23 and Ethan Harrast '23 hitting back-to-back singles with one out, Springfield got out of a jam with a lineout and a strikeout.
Notes
- Springfield, a member of the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference improved to 2-2-1 overall.
- Dux nailed his second home run of the season and the third of his career.
- Peter Jones '25 and Henry Boehm '25 collected three strikeouts apiece on the mound. Boehm struck out the side in the ninth.
- Joe Travesa, Cadin Maynard and Cole Zalegowski all tallied two hits for Springfield.
- Connor Caverly earned the win on the bump with seven strikeouts in four innings. Joe Hutchinson picked up the save.
Oswego State
How It Happened
- Hamilton took a two-run lead in the top of the fourth on three hits and one Oswego error. Bernstein got the offense going with a hard single up the middle. Harrast reached first on a Laker throwing error, and Bernstein advanced to third. Sattinger worked the count for a walk that loaded the bases. Lucas Herman '26 ripped a single to right field that plated Harrast and Bernstein.
- The Lakers put a run on the board in the sixth and then knotted the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the eighth.
- After a scoreless ninth and 10th innings, Oswego walked it off with a bases-loaded single to left field by Julian Drew.
Notes
- Oswego, a member of the State University of New York Athletic Conference improved to 2-6 overall.
- Lucas recorded his first collegiate hit.
- Bernstein had two of the team's four hits.
- Jack Eshleman '25 had a solid first outing on the mound, allowing one run on one hit in 5.1 innings. He struck out a career-high nine batters.
- Brendan Kastner '23 struck out three batters in 1.2 innings in his first appearance of the season.
- Drew, Owen Parliment and Jacob Levine collected one hit and one RBI each.
- Kieran Finnegan tallied eight strikeouts in the first three innings and finished with 11 in seven innings. Larry Citrola picked up the win with four hitless innings.
