No. 22 women's lacrosse falls to Bowdoin, Cleary '25 scores five

Sophomore attack set career highs in goals and in points with six for the Continentals

CLINTON, N.Y. – Bowdoin College's Sophia Sudano and Emelia Krakora scored three goals apiece in the Polar Bears' 11-8 NESCAC win against the Hamilton College Continentals at Hamilton's Steuben Field on Saturday afternoon.
 
Season Update
The nationally ranked No. 22 Continentals (0-2, 0-2 NESCAC) have lost their two games by a combined total of four goals. No. 16 Bowdoin (2-1, 1-1) lost to top-ranked Middlebury College on March 8.
 
How It Happened
  • The Polar Bears scored the first three goals and led for nearly 57 minutes. Sudano, Krakora and Lauren Burke have Bowdoin a 3-0 lead a little more than five minutes into the first quarter.
  • Hamilton pulled within a goal three times. Aine Cleary '25 made it 3-2 with 6:28 left in the first and drew the Continentals to 5-4 with 5:10 remaining in the second quarter. Sarah Creamer '26 cut Hamilton's deficit to one at 7-6 with 8:04 to go in the third quarter.
  • The Polar Bears led 3-2 after one quarter, 7-4 at the half and 9-6 with 15 minutes to go.
  • After Krakora made it 11-7 with 9:45 left, the Continentals committed four turnovers and had one shot on goal – a free-position tally by Cleary with 2:33 remaining.
 
Notes
  • Cleary's five goals and six points were both career highs.
  • Sydney Klepper '26 added a goal and an assist for Hamilton.
  • Alana King '24 notched her 21st career goal.
  • Creamer has three goals in her first two games with the Continentals.
  • Caroline Dawson '23 scooped up a career-high five ground balls.
  • Meghan Lane '24 caused four turnovers and won five draw controls.
  • Maeve Luparello '23 made two saves in the first half and Casey Fiore '24 stopped three shots in the second.
  • Fiona Bundy chipped in a goal and two assists for Bowdoin.
  • Krakora won four draws and Bundy and Sophia Schaefer collected three apiece.
  • Izzy Cisneros started in goal for the Polar Bears and made seven stops in the first 30 minutes. Sophie Brett turned away four shots in the second half.
 
Next Game
Hamilton hosts Roger Williams University (3-1 overall) for a non-conference game on Monday, March 13 at noon.
