CLINTON, N.Y. – Hamilton College's
Eric Anderson '23 tallied a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds and the Continentals rallied for a 64-59 win against the Connecticut College Camels in a 2023 NESCAC Men's Basketball Championship quarterfinal at Hamilton's Margaret Bundy Scott Field House on Saturday afternoon.
How It Happened
- The Continentals used a late 11-0 run to turn a 56-49 deficit into a 60-56 lead.
- Teja Singh '25 evened the score at 56-56 with a 3-pointer on a feed from Anderson with 1:57 remaining.
- Anderson's offensive rebound and putback gave Hamilton the lead for good at 58-56 with 43 seconds to go. Anderson added two free throws 20 seconds later.
- Singh had five points, Anderson scored four and Conner Rood '23 canned a jumper during the 11-0 spurt.
- Elias Espinosa countered with a pair at the line that cut Conn. College's deficit in half at 60-58 with 14 ticks left.
- Hank Morgan '25 and Anderson made four free throws in the final four seconds and sealed the victory.
- The Continentals trailed 38-32 early in the second half, but Anderson made two baskets and Morgan gave Hamilton their first lead of the half at 39-38 with a 3-ball on a pass from Patrick Mogan '23 with 12:37 to go.
- The Camels jumped out to a 4-0 lead before Mogan put the Continentals on the board with a jumper from the elbow.
- Trailing 13-11, Garret Keyhani '26 and Morgan netted 3-pointers for a 17-13 advantage with 7:09 remaining.
- Conn. College eventually countered with its own 7-0 rally and took a 24-20 lead with 2:22 left.
- Mogan scored Hamilton's next seven points and evened the score at 27-27 on a layup with 55 seconds to go.
- Conn. College's Billy Whelan chucked a half-court shot that saw nothing but net at the buzzer and gave the Camels a 30-27 cushion at the half.
- The contest featured 11 lead changes and five ties.
- Hamilton shot 34.9 percent (22-63) from the floor and were 12-for-20 at the line.
- Conn. College shot 40.8 percent (20-49) from the floor and were 14-for-21 at the charity stripe.
- Hamilton held a 44-29 advantage on the glass.
- The Continentals recorded 29 bench points to the Camels' three.
