Men’s basketball clipped at Colby, Singh ’25 scores 25

Sophomore guard hits new career high in regular season finale

WATERVILLE, Maine – Colby College shot 62 percent from the field in the second half and the Mules posted an 87-70 NESCAC win against the Hamilton College Continentals at Colby's Margaret M. Crook Center on Saturday afternoon. 
 
How It Happened
  • Teja Singh '25 tied the score at 7-7 on a 3-pointer with 16:38 left in the first half. 
  • Neither team led by more than five points in the first half as there were six ties and eight lead changes. Singh gave Hamilton a 34-29 lead on a jumper with 1:49 to go. 
  • Alec McGovern and Will King made layups on consecutive possessions and slashed Colby's deficit to one point at 34-33 at the break. 
  • McGovern put the Mules ahead for good at 42-40 with two shots at the line with 16:39 remaining. 
  • The Continentals came within one point two separate times including 45-44, but the Mules countered with a 5-0 spurt for a 50-44 advantage with 12:48 to go. 
  • Singh put Hamilton within four points at 62-58 on a 3-ball with 6:46 left, but the Mules went on a 10-2 run during the next three minutes and led by double digits the rest of the way. 
  • Hamilton shot 46.8 percent (29-62) from the floor and was 7-for-10 at the charity stripe. 
  • Colby shot 50.9 percent (29-57) from the floor, including 11 of 25 from beyond the arc, and 85.7 percent (18-21) at the line. 
  • The Mules gathered 12 points off turnovers to Hamilton's five. 
  • Hamilton owned a 31-29 edge on the glass. 
Notes
  • Hamilton moved to a 16-8 overall record and 7-3 in the NESCAC.
  • The Continentals are in a three-way tie for first place in the conference standings.
  • Colby (18-6, 5-5 NESCAC) won its third straight contest.
  • Singh hit 10 of 16 shots including 4 of 7 from 3-point land for a career-high 25 points. He's averaging 16 points over the last seven games. 
  • Anderson collected 18 points and a team-best eight rebounds off the bench. 
  • Conner Rood '23 contributed eight points and seven rebounds. 
  • Noah Tyson collected all 15 of his points on five baskets from 3-point range. 
  • McGovern added 14 points while Jonah Obi contributed 14 points and a team-best seven rebounds. 
  • King recorded 10 points and a team-best eight assists for the Mules. 
Next Game
  • Hamilton will host an opponent to be determined on Saturday, Feb. 18 in a NESCAC championship quarterfinal.
