Men’s basketball pulls away in second half for sixth straight win

Continentals held the Polar Bears to 16 points in the second half

BRUNSWICK, Maine – Hamilton College's Conner Rood '23 netted 14 points and led the Continentals with eight rebounds and three steals in their 58-39 NESCAC win against the Bowdoin College Polar Bears at Bowdoin's Morrell Gymnasium on Friday evening. 
 
How It Happened
  • Liam Regan '23 evened the score at 23-23 on a free throw one minute into the second half, and Patrick Mogan '23 put the Continentals ahead for good on a perfect trip to the line 60 seconds later. 
  • Eric Anderson '23 stretched Hamilton's lead to nine points at 35-26 on a 3-ball with 9:53 left. 
  • A jumper by Hank Morgan '25 gave Hamilton a double-digit cushion at 39-28 with 9:09 remaining. 
  • Teja Singh '25 nailed a 3-pointer and Anderson hit a pair at the stripe and made a layup for a 46-30 advantage with 5:11 remaining. 
  • Anderson converted another layup and added a dunk for a 20-point cushion at 50-30 with 4:13 left. 
  • The Continentals made all six of their free throws in the final three minutes and cruised to the victory. 
  • Hamilton opened the contest with a 14-3 run that covered the first eight minutes. Regan, Singh, Morgan, Rood, Graham Robinson '25 and Garret Keyhani '26 all scored during the spurt. 
  • The Polar Bears responded with a 20-6 run and led 23-20 at the break. 
  • Hamilton shot 37 percent (20-54) from the floor and 80 percent (16-20) at the line. 
  • Bowdoin shot 24.1 percent (14-58) from the floor and was just 7-for-17 at the stripe. 
  • Hamilton held a 45-40 advantage on the glass and tallied 32 points in the paint. 
Notes
  • Hamilton (16-7, 7-2 NESCAC) won its sixth straight contest.
  • The Continentals are in first place in the conference standings with one game remaining.
  • Bowdoin moved to 10-13 overall and 2-7 in the NESCAC. 
  • Rood went a perfect 6-for-6 at the line and was 4 of 7 from the field.
  • Anderson contributed a team-high 15 points off the bench and was 5 of 9 shooting. 
  • Singh and Morgan tallied 10 points apiece. 
  • Michael Simonds paced Bowdoin with 13 points. 
  • Xander Werkman added eight points and eight boards for the Polar Bears.
