CLINTON, N.Y. – Hamilton College's
Charlie Archer '25 made 32 saves and the Continentals posted a 4-0 win against the Trine University Thunder inside Clinton Arena on Saturday, Dec. 30.
Season Update
- Hamilton (8-2 overall) received votes in the most recent USCHO.com Division III Top 15 poll. The Continentals defeated Trine by the same score at SUNY Canton on Nov. 26 and were edged 4-3 in overtime by the Thunder on Friday night.
- Trine (11-3) is ranked 14th in the Top 15 poll.
How It Happened
- Hamilton found the back of the net with 2:27 left in the opening frame. James Philpott '25 took a shot from near the blue line and after a scramble in front, Luke Tchor '27 slipped the puck past Kyle Kozma for a 1-0 advantage.
- The Continentals doubled their lead midway through the second period. Max Bulawka '26 gained control of a bounding puck at the top of Hamilton's defensive zone, skated to center ice and passed to Justin Biraben '27. The rookie fired a shot from the left faceoff circle and Bulawka deflected the puck into the right corner of the net.
- Hamilton extended its lead less than seven minutes later. Grisha Gotovets '25 tipped a no-look deflection of a shot by William Neault '25 up and over Kozma's shoulder with 3:22 to go in the second.
- Noah Liebl '27 hit the back of the empty net with 2:03 remaining in the third period. Alex Danis '26 took control of the loose puck and passed it up to Liebl for the breakaway goal.
Notes
- Archer registered his third shutout in seven starts. He is second in Division III with a 0.86 goals against average and first with a .971 save percentage.
- Tchor buried his team-high seventh goal of the season and added his sixth assist.
- Bulawka tallied his sixth goal and eighth assist and leads the team with 14 points. He won 13 of 18 faceoffs.
- Gotovets and Leibl notched their second goals of the season.
- Philpott passed out his fifth and sixth assists of the season.
- Biraben handed out his seventh assist.
- Green added his third assist and contributed three blocks.
- Danis tallied his first point this season.
- Neault dished out his second assist of the season and blocked a career-high five shots. The Continentals finished with 18 blocked shots.
- Kozma made 28 saves for the Thunder.
- Both teams recorded 32 shots.
