Women’s basketball cruises to win, second 8-0 start in team history

Continentals defeated Fisher 60-20 at Norwich’s Ed Hockenbury Classic

NORTHFIELD, Vt. –  The Hamilton College Continentals scored the first 12 points and cruised to a 60-20 win over the Fisher College Falcons in Norwich University's Ed Hockenbury Classic at Andrews Hall on Saturday, Dec. 2. 
 
Season Update
  • Hamilton is 8-0 for the first time since 2017-18 and for just the second time in team history. 
  • Fisher, which is a member of the NAIA, dipped to 0-11 overall. 
How It Happened
  • Taylor Lambo '26 scored 10 of her 12 points in the opening five minutes and the Continentals led 12-0 with 5:00 left in the first quarter. 
  • Sophie Thompson '24 hit a fastbreak layup on a pass from Piper Seamon '24 for a 21-2 cushion at the end of the first. 
  • Courtney Shay '24 and Althea Hill '26 made back-to-back layups for a 20-point advantage at 25-5 with 8:24 to go in the second quarter. 
  • Sam Glickman '25 drained a shot from 3-point land that put the Continentals up 33-8 at the break. 
  • Thompson completed an old-fashioned 3-point play at the start of the second half that gave Hamilton a 36-8 lead. 
  • The Continentals gathered a 33-point cushion at 46-13 on a layup by Anna Gnapp '26 with 3:46 remaining. 
  • Hamilton held Fisher to single digits every quarter. The Continentals led by as many as 42 points at 60-18 with just under two minutes to play in the final frame. 
  • The Continentals shot 36.8 percent (25-68) from the field and went 9-for-12 at the line. 
  • Hamilton owned a 54-37 advantage on the glass. 
  • The Continentals racked up 46 points in the paint and 42 from the bench. 
Notes
  • Lambo was a perfect 5 of 5 from the floor for a team-high 12 points and added six defensive rebounds. 
  • Glickman recorded career highs of 10 points and seven boards off the bench. 
  • Mercado Rengel contributed 10 points and a team-best four steals. 
  • Abigael Morin '25 grabbed a career-best seven rebounds. 
  • Ariana Ramos-Cardona led Fisher with eight points and tied a team best with nine rebounds. 
  • Olivia Hamel and Ladaeja Robinson chipped in nine boards apiece for the Falcons.

Hamilton hosts SUNY Brockport (5-2 overall) for another non-conference matchup on Wednesday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m.
