Double-double for Lambo '26 in women's basketball 20-point win

Sophomore goes for 20 and 10 in the Continentals' 57-37 victory at William Smith

GENEVA, N.Y. – Hamilton College's Taylor Lambo '26 dropped in 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the Continentals' 57-37 non-conference win over the William Smith College Herons inside William Smith's Bristol Gym on Tuesday, Nov. 28.
 

Season Update

  • Hamilton (6-0 overall) has won all its games by at least nine points.
  • The Herons, who are members of the Liberty League, remained winless at 0-5.
 

How It Happened

  • William Smith led 6-4 after two 3-pointers, but didn't score for more than nine minutes as the Continentals took control.
  • Hamilton scored the last 12 points of the first quarter and the first two of the second for an 18-6 advantage. Courtney Shay '24 started the run with two free throws and Lambo pulled down an offensive rebound and made the putback. Piper Seamon '24 cleaned up a teammate's miss and Kendall Harris '27 converted a layup. Abbey Schwoebel '27 ended the quarter with two baskets in the paint and the Continentals led 16-6.
  • Seamon made two free throws 28 seconds into the second quarter for a 12-point cushion. The Herons didn't get closer than nine points the rest of the night. A trifecta by Shay gave Hamilton its largest lead in the first half of 17 points at 33-16 with 3:06 left. The Continentals went into the break with a 35-24 advantage.
  • Hamilton's lead fluctuated between 11 and 17 points in the third quarter, and the Continentals were up 47-33 with 10 minutes remaining.
  • Schwoebel scored the game's final six points, including a jumper in the paint that put Hamilton up by 20 for the first time with 26 seconds to go.
 

Notes

  • The Continentals scored 19 second-chance points to William Smith's six, and owned a 38-20 advantage in points in the paint.
  • The Herons missed all nine of their two-point attempts in the first quarter and they were just 2 of 14 from the field overall in the opening 10 minutes.
  • Hamilton outrebounded William Smith, 50-33. The Herons committed 25 turnovers and shot 28.8 percent (15-52) from the floor.
  • The Continentals have won the last four meetings with their old league rivals.
  • Lambo recorded her ninth career double-double. She was 10 of 14 from the field and blocked two shots.
  • Shay ended up with a season-high 10 points. She was 2 of 3 from 3-point range. The rest of the team was 0 of 18.
  • Schwoebel chipped in a season-best 10 points.
  • Harris pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds. She leads the NESCAC with 9.5 per game.
  • Althea Hill '26 handed out a career-high five assists.
  • Tessa Cole '25 led the Hamilton defense with three steals.
  • The Continentals' opponents are shooting 29.1 percent from the field including 20.4 percent from beyond the arc.
  • Brooke Jarvis paced William Smith with 14 points, six boards and three assists.
  • Jazzmyn Lewis had five of the Herons' 11 steals.

Hamilton plays the University of Maine at Fort Kent (5-0) in Norwich University's Ed Hockenbury Classic on Friday, Dec. 1 at 7 p.m.
