CLINTON, N.Y. – Hamilton College's
Teja Singh '25 matched his career best with 25 points and the Continentals defeated the Neumann University Knights 83-65 in the championship game of the 2023 Hamilton Invitational Tournament inside Margaret Bundy Scott Field House on Sunday, Nov. 19.
Season Update
- Hamilton improved to 2-1 overall. The Continentals reached the championship game with a 90-68 win over SUNY Morrisville on Nov. 18.
- Neumann, which is a member of the Atlantic East Conference, dipped to 1-3 on the season.
How It Happened
- Jalen Vaughns made a layup and slashed Neumann's deficit to one possession at 48-45 with 15:38 left in the second half.
- Singh converted a layup and Jalen Reese '27 hit a fastbreak 3-pointer off a pass from Singh for a 53-45 advantage. Christian McDaniel '24 extended Hamilton's lead to double digits on a layup with 12:59 remaining.
- Up 63-54, the Continentals scored the next eight points on jumper by Reese and 3-pointers by Hank Morgan '25 and Owen Kane '25.
- Garret Keyhani '26 went in for a layup and gave Hamilton its largest lead of 20 points at 81-61 with 3:08 remaining.
- Singh got the Continentals off to a fast start with three consecutive 3-pointers for a 9-4 lead in the opening two minutes of the first half. Hamilton jumped out to a 10-point cushion at 16-6 and led the whole way.
- Morgan gave the Continentals their largest lead of the half of 14 points at 31-17 on a 3-ball with 9:58 to go.
- The Knights responded with an 8-0 run and cut its deficit to six points at 31-25 with 5:25 left.
- Singh scored Hamilton's last eight points of the half and the Knights recorded nine points on three 3-pointers in the last four minutes. The Continentals headed into halftime with a 43-35 advantage.
- Hamilton shot 50.8 percent (31-61) from the field including 50 percent (17-34) from beyond the arc.
- The Continentals tallied a season best 17 3-pointers and 21 assists.
- The 17 made baskets from 3-point range are the most by Hamilton since Nov. 16, 2021 when the Continentals hit 24 against Elmira College.
- The Knights shot 46 percent (23-50) from the floor, including 6 of 12 from the 3-point line, but struggled at the charity stripe as they made just 44.8 percent (13-for-29).
Notes
- Singh, who was named the tournament's most outstanding player, led all players with five assists. The junior was 10 of 15 from the floor including 5 of 8 from 3-point land.
- Morgan tallied 14 points and has scored in double digits in all three games.
- Kane dropped in 13 points on 60 percent shooting from the 3-point line (3-5).
- Keyhani, who was named to the all-tournament team, added nine points, six rebounds and three blocks.
- Reese scored seven points and grabbed a team-best eight boards.
- Cooper Xu '25 dished out a career-high four assists.
- Vaughns led the Knights with 21 points and nine rebounds.
- Kyle Thompson registered 18 points and registered four of Neumann's six 3-pointers.
- Vaughns and Thompson earned spots on the all-tournament team.

Hamilton travels to Drew University (4-0 overall) for another non-conference matchup on Tuesday, Nov. 21 for a 5 p.m. tipoff.
