WATERVILLE, Maine – Colby College's Madison Genser scored in the 89
th minute and lifted the Mules to a 3-2 NESCAC win against the Hamilton College Continentals at Colby's Serdjenian Field on Sunday.
Season Update
- Hamilton (5-2-3, 3-2-3 NESCAC) dropped its second match in as many days. The Continentals are ranked 17th in the United Soccer Coaches Division III Top 25 poll.
- Colby (3-5-2, 1-4-2) recorded its first win since Sept. 19.
How It Happened
- The Mules notched the game-winner with just 1:12 left on Genser's free kick from right outside the box after a Hamilton handball.
- Hamilton took an early lead just 4:46 into the opening half. Ryan Manning '27 sent a pass over to Sarah Roth '25 who ripped a long shot with her left foot into the right side of the net.
- With less than six minutes remaining in the first half, the Mules knotted the score on a goal by Samantha DeWitt that was assisted by Genser.
- After a series of shot attempts, Abigail Jarvi gave the Mules a 2-1 lead after a long pass from Mia Cromwell with 32:32 remaining.
- The Continentals evened the score in the 72nd minute. Olivia Zubarik '25 took advantage of a short pass back to Colby's goalkeeper and hustled to gain possession before she eventually settled the ball in the back middle of the net.
- Colby outshot Hamilton 20-11, but the Continentals carried a 4-3 edge in corner kicks.
