NEW LONDON, Conn. – Hamilton College's
Kate Carman '24 tallied 18 kills and the Continentals swept the Connecticut College Camels in three sets (25-23, 25-18, 25-20) on Saturday afternoon in Conn. College's Luce Fieldhouse.
Season Update
- Hamilton improved to 7-6 overall and 3-3 in the conference.
- Conn. College (8-7, 2-5 NESCAC) dropped its third straight match.
How It Happened
- Hamilton started hot with a 6-1 run in the opening set, but the Camels countered with a 7-1 rally and held an 8-7 edge.
- A pair of kills by Summer McClintic '24, a bad set and a Conn. College attack error gave Hamilton an 11-8 advantage.
- Down 23-21, the Continentals scored the final four points on kills by McClintic and Carman, an attack error and another bad set.
- The Continentals led 7-2 in the second set and never trailed. Hamilton led by as many as seven points on four occasions. The Camels inched their way back to within two points at 15-13 before the Continentals shut it down with a 4-0 spurt for a 19-13 cushion.
- After the Camels scored three straight points and drew within 22-18, the Continentals claimed the final three points on kills by McClintic and Drew Stimson '25, and block assists by Stimson and Elodie McGeiver '27. Hamilton collected a .387 hitting percentage for the set.
- Conn. College led 6-3 in the third set, but a service error, block assists by Stimson and Caroline Friedrichs '25, and three straight kills by McClintic gave the Continentals an 8-6 lead. The Camels fought back and tied the match at 18-18. Hamilton took the lead for good with three straight points, and the Continentals closed out the match with a kill and an ace by McClintic and two kills by Stimson.
Notes
- Carman has recorded double-digit kills in four consecutive matches. She is fourth in the NESCAC with 3.60 kills per set.
- McClintic hammered 15 kills with no errors and boasted a .536 hitting percentage. She is fifth in the conference with 2.79 kills per set.
- Melissa Morelli '24 dished out 36 assists and paced Hamilton with 14 digs.
- Stimson led the Continentals at the net with four blocks.
- Riley Lord led Connecticut College with eight kills, Emma Wheeler boasted a match-high seven blocks, and Katherine Randall and Olivia Dow served three aces apiece.
- Hamilton has won five of its last seven matches against the Camels.
