LEWISTON, Maine – Hamilton College's
Summer McClintic '24 posted her fifth double-double with 13 kills and 11 digs, and the Continentals defeated the Bates College Bobcats in three sets (25-19, 25-19, 25-22) on Friday evening in Bates' Alumni Gym.
Season Update
- Hamilton improved to 8-6 overall and 4-3 in the NESCAC.
- Bates dipped to 4-13 overall and 1-6 in the conference.
How It Happened
- Trailing 3-2 in the first set, the Continentals sparked a 7-2 run and held the lead the remainder of the set. Bates cut it to a two-point deficit three times including 12-10, but Hamilton ran off on an 8-3 rally powered by four kills by McClintic, another by Drew Stimson '25, and a McClintic ace. Bates attempted to climb back into it with a 4-0 spurt that made it 23-19. The Continentals countered with kills by Kate Carman '24 and Caroline Friedrichs '25 that ended the set.
- Hamilton jumped out to a 12-5 lead in the second set and led by as many as nine points at 23-14. The Bobcats came up with four straight points, but the Continentals closed out the set with kills by Maggie Nichols '26 and Claire Cooper '26.
- After seven ties, Hamilton scored seven of the next eight points and turned a 9-8 deficit into a 15-10 advantage. A kill by Caitlin Allen '27 and an ace by Melissa Morelli '24 gave the Continentals a 17-11 lead. Bates took advantage of two Hamilton attack errors and three service errors and knotted the score at 20-20. The Continentals gained momentum with three straight points and after giving up one, Hamilton took the final two points on two kills by Carman.
- Hamilton registered a .238 hitting percentage with 47 kills. The Continentals nearly doubled up the Bobcats in kills (47-25)
Notes
- Hamilton has swept Bates in each of the past three seasons.
- McClintic tallied her seventh double-digit kill match of the year. She is fifth in the conference with 2.90 kills per set. The senior also led the team with two service aces.
- Carman registered her fifth consecutive double-digit kill match with 14. She is fourth in the NESCAC with 3.65 kills per set.
- Stimson recorded a .444 hitting percentage with 10 kills.
- Morelli dished out a team-high 36 assists.
- Rylee Bergeron '26 led Hamilton with 24 digs. Bergeron has come up with 24 digs three times this season.
- Chrissy Chu passed out a team-high 21 assists for the Bobcats.
- Ami Evans led Bates with 13 digs and seven kills.
