CLINTON, N.Y. – Hamilton College's
Alana King '24 and
Alden Duserick '27 scored two goals apiece in the Continentals' 4-0 non-conference win against the St. Lawrence University Saints at Hamilton's Goodfriend Field on a warm Tuesday evening, Oct. 3.
Season Update
- The 20th-ranked Continentals (6-3 overall) have won three straight games for the second time this season. Hamilton has scored 11 goals during the current win streak.
- St. Lawrence (3-7) lost its fourth consecutive contest.
How It Happened
- King gave the Continentals a 1-0 lead just 3:33 into the first quarter off a penalty corner. Hannah Dillon '24 passed to King on the left wing and she moved the ball several feet towards the cage. King flipped a bouncing shot that slipped between the goalkeeper's pads.
- Hamilton poured it on in the second quarter with three more goals. Duserick scored with 6:41 left in the second when she knocked in a rebound from near the right post after Dillon's hard backhand shot was kicked aside.
- Duserick made it 3-0 with 3:38 remaining. She collected a loose ball after a failed attempt by a Saints' defender to clear it out of the shooting area. Her shot got a piece of the goalkeeper's foot but had enough pace on it to bounce up into the back of the net.
- King completed the scoring just 74 seconds later. Sammy Higgins '26 tried a give-and-go with King but the ball was deflected by a St. Lawrence player. King regained possession and her backhand shot from left of the penalty stroke dot squeezed between the goalkeeper and the left post.
Notes
- King recorded her first multi-goal game with the Continentals and is tied for the team lead in points this season with eight.
- Duserick tallied her first two goals at Hamilton.
- Reilly Loughman '27 didn't need to make a save in recording the shutout in her first collegiate start.
- Cara Vredenburg and Lucy Adiutori made two stops apiece for the Saints.
- The Continentals held an 8-1 advantage in penalty corners.
- Hamilton has won six straight meetings against St. Lawrence dating back to when both teams played in the Liberty League.
