Peplowski ’25 scores in men’s soccer 1-1 draw against No. 22 Oneonta

Junior midfielder netted his sixth goal of the season for the Continentals

CLINTON, N.Y. – Hamilton College's Luke Peplowski '25 scored in the 53rd minute and the Continentals posted their third consecutive tie with a 1-1 decision against the SUNY Oneonta Red Dragons at Hamilton's Love Field on Tuesday afternoon. 
 
Season Update
  • The Continentals moved to 6-4-5 overall, and they are unbeaten in their last six matches (3-0-3). 
  • Oneonta (12-2-3), which is a member of the State University of New York Athletic Conference, is ranked 22nd in the United Soccer Coaches Division III Top 25 poll. 
How It Happened
  • After a scoreless first half, Hamilton struck 7:44 into the second half on a great individual effort by Peplowski. Pandelis Margaronis '25 booted the ball upfield and Peplowski applied the pressure to three Oneonta defenders. He gained possession on a slide tackle at the top of the box and chipped a shot up and over the hands of Oneonta's Nate Hanna. 
  • Oneonta's Jonathan Shank nearly evened the score on a two-on-one breakaway opportunity in the 62ndminute, but Kai Haesslein '24 made an impressive save from point-blank range. 
  • The Red Dragons scored the equalizer in the 69th minute on a goal by Ian Zingaro. 
  • The Continentals fired two more shots in the last 14 minutes but Hanna made the stops. 
  • Hamilton owned an 11-9 shot advantage with four on target. 
  • Oneonta held a 4-2 edge on corner kicks.  
Notes
  • Peplowski registered his 12th career goal. He leads the team in goals with six and in points with 16. 
  • Haesslein tallied three saves for the Continentals. 
  • Hanna made three stops for Oneonta. 
  • Hamilton's last three ties have all come against nationally ranked teams.
