AMHERST, Mass. – Hamilton College's
Luke Peplowski '25 netted the equalizer in the 89th minute and the Continentals forced a 1-1 NESCAC draw with the Amherst College Mammoths at Amherst's Gooding Field on Saturday afternoon.
Season Update
- Hamilton (6-4-4, 3-4-3 NESCAC) has just one loss in its last eight matches. The Continentals are in sixth place in the conference standings with 12 points. Hamilton has finished its NESCAC schedule while all the other 10 teams have one match left. The top eight teams advance to the conference championship.
- Amherst (9-2-3, 5-1-3) is ranked 14th in the United Soccer Coaches Division III Top 25 poll.
How It Happened
- The Continentals earned a corner kick after a blocked shot in the 88th minute and Luke Ehrenfreund '25 sent it into the box, but the Mammoths knocked it away. Peplowski pursued the loose ball and passed it back out to Ehrenfreund in the corner. Ehrenfreund tapped it back to Peplowski who took a step and fired a shot into the upper-right 90.
- Mohammed Nuhu gave the Mammoths the lead in the 15th minute on a pass from Ada Okorogheye.
- The Mammoths threatened with three shots in the opening five minutes of the second half, but Kai Haesslein '24 saved the only one on goal.
- Amherst outshot Hamilton 10-3 and held a 4-1 advantage on corner kicks.
- The Continentals tallied all three of their shots in the final four minutes.
Notes
- Peplowski registered his fifth goal of the season and the 11th of his career.
- Ehrenfreund dished out his team-high fifth assist of the season. He leads the team in points with 15 and is fourth in the NESCAC in assists.
- Haesslein tallied two saves for Hamilton.
- Ignacio Cubeddu led Amherst with seven of the team's 10 shots.
- Max Landa made one stop in the 87th minute for the Mammoths.
