CLINTON, N.Y. – Hamilton College's
Kai Haesslein '24 made a career-high eight saves and the Continentals fought to a scoreless tie against the Bowdoin College Polar Bears at Hamilton's Love Field on Saturday afternoon.
Season Update
- Hamilton moved to 6-4-3 overall and 3-4-2 in the NESCAC with its fourth straight shutout and sixth in the last seven matches.
- Bowdoin (6-1-4, 3-1-3 NESCAC) is ranked 24th in the United Soccer Coaches Division III Top 25 Poll.
How It Happened
- The Polar Bears had a free kick opportunity right outside the top-left corner of the box in the 19th minute. Ronaldo Cabral drove a hard shot down the middle but Haesslein's hands were quick with the punch-out save.
- Hamilton almost broke the ice in the 22nd minute. Luke Ehrenfreund '25 dribbled down the far side, danced around a defender and tapped the ball over to Charles Hawthorn '25 who zipped a shot just over the crossbar.
- Despite Bowdoin notching 12 of their 17 shots in the second half, Haesslein proved to be a brick wall with six saves in the final 45 minutes.
- Bowdoin outshot Hamilton 17-14, and held an 8-1 advantage on corner kicks.
Notes
- Haesslein registered his sixth clean sheet this season. He is third in the NESCAC with 3.75 saves per match and in shutouts per match.
- Jack Banks paced Bowdoin with three shots on target.
- Grant Griesman made two stops for Bowdoin.
