Women’s hoops falls at Middlebury, Sehring ’23 posts double-double

Senior forward tallied 10 points and a career-high 16 boards

Middlebury, Vt. – Middlebury College's Alexa Mustafaj netted 21 points and the Panthers posted a 64-56 NESCAC win against the Hamilton College Continentals at Middlebury's Pepin Gymnasium on Friday evening. 
 
How It Happened
  • Middlebury outscored Hamilton 23-9 in the first quarter and started the game with an 8-0 run. 
  • Maria Mercado Rengel '24 scored five of Hamilton's nine points in the second quarter, but the Continentals trailed by 16 points at 34-18 heading into the break. 
  • Hamilton had its best quarter with 23 points in the third. The Continentals ended the quarter with a 10-1 spurt and cut their deficit to single digits at 48-41. 
  • Emily Hall '24 drained a jumper and cut Middlebury's lead to 48-43 with 8:17 remaining. The Continentals failed to get any closer as the Panthers went 10-for-12 at the charity stripe in the fourth. 
  • Middlebury shot 41.2 percent (21-51) from the floor, including 6 of 12 from the 3-point line, and 69.6 percent (16-23) at the line. 
  • Hamilton was held to 28.8 percent (19-66) shooting from the floor including 11.1 percent from beyond the arc (2-18). 
  • The Continentals shot 94.1 percent at the charity stripe (16-17). 
  • Hamilton recorded 16 second-chance points to the Panthers' five. 
  • The Continentals owned a 49-35 advantage on the glass including 17 offensive rebounds.

  • Hamilton (7-4, 0-1 NESCAC) dropped its third straight contest. 
  • Middlebury improved to 8-5 overall and 1-0 in the conference. 
  • Emily Hall '24 tallied 13 points, eight rebounds, three assists and a pair of steals. 
  • Sehring collected her fourth double-double of the season with 10 points and a career-high 16 rebounds. 
  • Mercado Rengel contributed a season-best 13 points off the bench. 
  • Taylor Lambo '26 added 11 rebounds and is averaging 10 boards in the last six contests. 
  • Mustafaj was 11-for-15 at the line.
  • Bethany Lucey registered 16 points and nine rebounds for Middlebury. 
  • Gabby Stuart scored 11 points for the Panthers.
