Women’s basketball drops NESCAC game at Williams, Lambo ’26 with 14

Continentals rallied to tie the score midway through the fourth quarter

Williamstown, Mass. – Williams College's Arianna Gerig scored 21 points in the Ephs' 67-58 NESCAC win over the Hamilton College Continentals at Williams' Chandler Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon. 
 
How It Happened
  • The Continentals scored the first five points in the opening 1:38. 
  • The Ephs responded with a 7-2 spurt and evened the score. 
  • The first quarter featured two additional ties before Gerig hit a jumper for a 15-13 advantage at the end of one. 
  • Williams shot 7 of 14 from the floor in the second quarter and claimed a 35-27 lead at the break.
  • Williams' Devin Biesbrock opened the third quarter with a 3-ball before the Continentals rallied with a 9-1 spurt and pulled within three points at 39-36 with 6:20 remaining. 
  • The Ephs went on a 12-5 run and regained their 10-point advantage at 51-41 with 1:09 left.
  • Maria Mercado Rengel '24 hit a 3-pointer in the final minute and gave the Continentals some momentum heading into the final quarter.
  • Hamilton started the fourth with an 8-1 run and evened the score at 52 apiece on an Althea Hill '26 3-pointer with 6:38 left. 
  • Williams scored seven of the next eight points and the Continentals didn't get closer than four in the last 4:30. Williams was just 1 of 9 from the field in the fourth, but went 14-for-18 at the line. 
  • Hamilton shot 33.9 percent (20-59) from the floor, including 35.3 percent (6-17) from the 3-point line, and 63.2 percent (12-19) at the charity stripe. 
  • Williams shot 37.7 percent (20-53) from the floor, including 3 of 10 from beyond the arc, and 80 percent (24-30) at the line. 
  • The Continentals tallied 28 points in the paint.
  • Williams claimed a 43-33 advantage on the glass.

  • Hamilton moved to 7-5 overall and 0-2 in the NESCAC. 
  • Williams improved to 10-5 on the season and 1-1 in the conference. 
  • Taylor Lambo '26 paced Hamilton with 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds. 
  • Emily Hall '24 tallied 10 points and a season-high four steals.
  • Emma Sehring '23 contributed nine points, nine rebounds and three assists. 
  • Althea Hill '26 added nine points on three 3-pointers while Mercado Rengel chipped in eight. 
  • Gerig went 9-for-10 from the charity stripe. 
  • Devin Biesbrock registered 11 points and four assists.
  • Mia Holtze netted 12 points and had nine rebounds off the bench, and Cortland McBarron scored eight points. 
  • Maddy Mandyck collected a team-best 11 rebounds and three blocked shots. She is second in the NESCAC with 10.5 rebounds per game.
