Clinton, N.Y. - Hamilton College's
Teja Singh '25 poured in a career-high 22 points and the Continentals defeated the Middlebury College Panthers 65-56 in NESCAC action at Hamilton's Margaret Bundy Scott Field House on Friday evening.
How It Happened
- With the score tied 50-50 and 6:36 left in the second half, the Continentals went on an 11-4 run over the next six minutes. An offensive rebound and putback by Conner Rood '23 gave Hamilton the lead for good at 52-50. Hank Morgan '25 scored four of the 11 points, including two free throws that made it 61-54 with 36 seconds remaining.
- The Continentals built a 30-22 lead at the break after they hit four 3-pointers in the first half.
- Hamilton owned a 10-point advantage at 34-24 after baskets by Patrick Mogan '23 and Singh 1:23 into the second half.
- Middlebury rallied with an 8-0 run and cut its deficit to two points at 36-34 with 14:32 remaining.
- The Panthers took a 39-38 lead after a 3-ball by Jaden Bobbett with 12:22 to go.
- Trailing 41-40, the Continentals rattled off seven straight points. Morgan, Singh and Mogan all scored in the spurt as Hamilton went up 47-41 with 9:31 left.
- The Panthers fought back and tied the score for the fourth and final time. Noah Osher hit three consecutive free throws and evened the score at 50-50.
- Middlebury came within one point twice in the last five minutes, but Hamilton was 7-for-10 at the line down the stretch.
- The Continentals put together a 10-2 spurt and turned a 6-4 deficit into a 14-8 advantage with 11:20 left in the first half.
- Hamilton claimed its largest lead of 11 points at 23-12 on an Eric Anderson layup with 6:52 remaining.
- Alex Sobel scored Middlebury's last 11 points in the first half.
- Middlebury was held to 34.5 percent shooting (20-58) from the floor.
- Hamilton shot 37.9 percent (25-66) from the floor, including 37.5 percent (6-16) from the 3-point line, and went 9-for-14 at the charity stripe.
- The Continentals secured 15 second-chance points.
- Hamilton held a 48-37 advantage on the glass.
