No. 7 women's hockey defeats Wesleyan behind Loh '23 hat trick

Continentals scored season-high seven goals in 7-1 NESCAC win

CLINTON, N.Y. -- Hamilton College's Nancy Loh '23 recorded the second hat trick of her career and the Continentals cruised to a 7-1 NESCAC win against the Wesleyan University Cardinals at Hamilton's Russell Sage Rink on Friday night.

Season Update
The nationally ranked No. 7 Continentals (13-3-1, 7-2-0 NESCAC) have outscored their opponents 18-5 in the last four games. Wesleyan (9-7-1, 3-6-0) received votes in this week's USCHO.com Division III Top 15 poll.

How It Happened
  • Hamilton jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first period. Loh started things off 2:40 into the period when she cleaned up a rebound after a flurry of shots by the Continentals.
  • Loh made it 2-0 at 5:29 in the first after a nice stretch pass from Sophie Berghammer '26.
  • Maddie Hong '23 gave Hamilton a three-goal cushion on a great wrist shot from the left faceoff circle that beat the goaltender top shelf on the right side of the net with 7:42 left.
  • Abby Weiss '25 scored the fourth goal of the period for the Continentals 1:19 later.
  • Caroline Kee tallied the Cardinals' lone goal from the slot with 3:09 remaining when she redirected a centering pass from Brooke Keough.
  • Abby Smith '24 made it 5-1 on a power-play goal from close range with 2:29 to go in the second period.
  • Mya Berretta '23 gave Hamilton a five-goal advantage at 9:46 of the third period. Berretta came up with the loose puck after a shot by Sophia Testa '26 was off target.
  • Loh wrapped up the scoring with 1:47 left. She threw the puck towards the crease from the goal line on the left side and it went off a Wesleyan player's skate and deflected into the net.
