Women’s basketball falls at No. 15 Trinity in NESCAC action

Continentals look to bounce back with a trip to Wesleyan on Jan. 28

Trinity College's Reilly Campbell posted a double-double and the nationally ranked No. 15 Bantams defeated the Hamilton College Continentals 55-37 in a NESCAC game played at Trinity's Oosting Gymnasium on Friday evening.
 
How It Happened
  • Trinity jumped out to a 9-0 lead with 4:36 left in the first quarter.
  • Althea Hill '26 nailed a 3-ball and slashed the Bantams' cushion to five points at 15-10 with 51 seconds left. Campbell closed out the first with a layup for a 17-10 advantage. 
  • Hamilton's Olivia Davis '23 opened the second quarter with a jumper. 
  • The Continentals were within four points three times early in the quarter. Taylor Lambo '26 and Emily Hall '24 hit back-to-back jumpers and Hamilton trailed by only two at 27-25 at the break. 
  • Maria Mercado Rengel '24 drained a 3-pointer and made it a one-point game at 29-28 and a Hall jumper pulled the Continentals within a point again at 31-30 with 4:39 remaining in the third.
  • Trinity clinched the win with a 19-1 run as Hamilton went more than 11 minutes without a basket. 
  • Trinity shot 39.3 percent (22-56) from the floor, including 4 of 9 from beyond the arc, and was 7-for-9 at the charity stripe. 
  • Hamilton was 4 of 21 from the field in the second half and 6-for-12 at the line for the entire game. 
  • Trinity claimed a 43-29 advantage on the glass.
  • The Bantams collected 28 points in the paint to Hamilton's 12. 
Notes
  • Hamilton moved to 10-8 overall and 3-3 in the NESCAC. 
  • Trinity (18-1, 5-0 NESCAC) won its 15th straight contest and is ranked 15th in the D3hoops.com Top 25 poll and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association Division III Top 25 poll. The Bantams' only loss was against then-nationally ranked No. 7 Smith in overtime. 
  • Hall paced Hamilton with nine points and eight rebounds. She added three assists and two steals. 
  • Lambo tallied eight points and Davis contributed six points in eight minutes off the bench.
  • Campbell shot 8 of 12 from the floor and collected 16 points and 11 rebounds. 
  • Emma Wax registered 10 points and four assists for the Bantams. 
  • Bria Fuller scored seven points while Francesca Silva and Theresa Twardosky netted six apiece.

  • Hamilton faces Wesleyan University (9-10, 2-3 NESCAC) in Middletown, Conn., for another NESCAC matchup on Saturday, Jan. 28 at 3 p.m.
