Grant '24 shines in goal for men's hockey in 1-1 tie at Trinity

Junior made a career-high 46 saves for the Continentals in another NESCAC road game

HARTFORD, Conn. -- Hamilton College's Jack Grant '24 made a career-high 46 saves and the Continentals played to a 1-1 NESCAC tie against the Trinity College Bantams at Koeppel Community Sports Center on Friday night.
 
Season Update
Hamilton (8-8-1, 6-4-1 NESCAC) is 3-0-1 in its last four games against Trinity. The Bantams (11-5-1, 8-2-1) received votes in this week's USCHO.com Division III Top 15 poll.
 
How It Happened
  • The Continentals took a 1-0 lead at 11:16 of the first period. Nick Hawkins '23 scored and Logan Greene '24 and Cade Groton '23 picked up the assists.
  • Nicholas Siffringer drew Trinity even with 3:20 left in the second period. Siffringer scored right after Grant turned away a shot by Theodore Griffin.
  • James Philpott '25 hit the post with a shot during a Hamilton power play midway through the second period.
  • The Continentals' Sam MacBean '23 also clanged a shot off the post midway through the third period.
  • Both teams put five shots on goal during the five-minute overtime period.
 
Notes
  • Hawkins has scored three goals in the last five games.
  • Greene posted his 10th career point.
  • Groton has an assist in three of the last four games.
  • Fred Allaire '23 won 15 of 23 faceoffs and Groton won 14 of 23 as Hamilton claimed 47 of 79 draws as a team.
  • The Continentals killed all three of the Bantams' power-play chances.
 
Next Game
Hamilton travels to nationally ranked No. 15 Wesleyan University for another NESCAC contest on Saturday, Jan. 28. The first puck drops at 3 p.m.
