MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Hamilton College's
Grisha Gotovets '25 scored 28 seconds into the sudden-victory overtime period and lifted the Continentals to a 2-1 NESCAC win against the Wesleyan University Cardinals at Wesleyan's Spurrier-Snyder Rink on Saturday afternoon.
Season Update
Hamilton (9-8-1, 7-4-1 NESCAC) finished its weekend road trip to central Connecticut with a win and a tie. The nationally ranked No. 15 Cardinals (11-5-2, 7-3-2) edged the Continentals 4-3 in overtime back on Dec. 3.
How It Happened
- Hamilton dominated the overtime action as the teams skated 3-on-3. The Continentals won both faceoffs and had both shots on goal. James Philpott '25 and Ben Zimmerman '26 had the assists on Gotovets' game-winner.
- Sean Thomson '23 gave Hamilton a 1-0 lead with 5:55 left in the first period while the teams were skating 4-on-4. Carson Hall '26 was credited with an assist on Thomson's goal.
- Neither team scored in the second period, but a shot by Wesleyan's Andrew Pratt hit the post with about four minutes left.
- Danny Judge tied the score for the Cardinals with 7:25 remaining in the third period. Mike Dunderdale and Parker Sondag collected the assists.
- Wesleyan had a great chance to take the lead after one of the Continentals was sent to the penalty box for tripping with six minutes to go, but the Cardinals couldn't take advantage.

- Gotovets picked a great spot for his first goal this season and eighth of his Hamilton career.
- Jack Grant '24 stopped 24 shots, including 14 in the second period.
- Thomson tallied his fourth career goal with the Continentals.
- Zimmerman leads the team with 10 assists and 15 points.
- Philpott has 21 career assists at Hamilton.
- Fred Allaire '23 won 13 of 19 faceoffs and has won 59 percent of the draws this season.
- Marc Smith turned away 12 shots for Wesleyan.
