CLINTON, N.Y. - Hamilton College's
Teja Singh '25 netted the game-winning basket in the final seconds and lifted the Continentals to an electrifying 87-86 NESCAC win over the Wesleyan University Cardinals at Hamilton's Margaret Bundy Scott Field House on Saturday afternoon.
How It Happened
- Conner Rood '23 tied the score at 84-84 on a jumper with two minutes remaining.
- Wesleyan's Nicky Johnson hit a jumper for an 86-84 advantage with 41 seconds left.
- Hamilton called a timeout immediately after Johnson's basket. The Continentals attempted three shots and Rood gathered two offensive boards and Patrick Mogan '23 powered through the paint for the third board. Mogan passed it out to Singh who drained the game-winning 3-pointer from the wing with 3.4 seconds remaining.
- Preston Maccoux threw up a wild half-court shot as time expired but missed everything.
- Wesleyan held six-point leads twice in the final five minutes. Johnson's jumper made it 80-74 with 4:57 left and a basket in the paint by Gabe Ravetz gave the Cardinals an 82-76 advantage 57 seconds later.
- Hank Morgan '25 and Liam Regan '23 evened the score at 82 on 3-pointers on back-to-back possessions.
- The Cardinals took an 84-82 lead after Johnson converted two shots at the line with 2:28 remaining.
- Morgan gave the Continentals their first lead at 44-43 on a 3-ball 1:45 into the second half.
- Hamilton gathered its largest lead of five points at 58-53 with 12:55 remaining after an 8-3 run. Rood netted six of the eight points.
- Shackylle Dezonie netted Wesleyan's first eight points for an 8-2 lead 2:12 into the first half.
- Wesleyan grabbed its largest lead of 19 points at 29-10 with 7:30 left in the half.
- Hamilton countered with an 11-2 run and trailed by single digits at 30-21 with 5:18 remaining.
- Maccoux hit a 3-pointer and Johnson made a layup for a 35-23 cushion.
- Morgan answered with a 3-ball and Regan added a layup and a 3-pointer that cut Hamilton's deficit to four at 35-31 with 2:36 to go.
- Wesleyan went up by six points two more times but Singh canned a shot from beyond the arc and Anderson hit a jumper as the Continentals pulled within three at 41-38 at the break.
- The Cardinals collected 44 points in the paint to Hamilton's 26.
- Hamilton's six seniors were honored at the beginning of halftime.

- Hamilton (14-7, 5-2 NESCAC) has won four straight contests, including three conference games at home.
- Wesleyan (13-7, 4-2) dropped its second consecutive NESCAC matchup after an 11-game win streak.
- Morgan shot 9 of 15 from the floor including 4 of 6 from 3-point range and led Hamilton with a career-high 25 points. He also handed out four assists.
- Rood was one rebound shy of a double-double with nine boards and 15 points. He shot 7 of 13 from the floor.
- Regan tallied a season-best 14 points.
- Anderson went 5-for-6 at the line and finished with 14 points.
- Singh hit 3 of 5 from 3-point land and contributed 13 points.
- Johnson paced Wesleyan with 17 points on 7 of 12 shooting.
- Dezonie chipped in 16 points.
- Maccoux scored 14 points while Ravetz and Shane Regan added 11 apiece.
