Men's hockey shut out in non-conference action at No. 8 Geneseo

Grant '24 made 29 saves and Allaire '23 won 17 faceoffs for the Continentals

GENESEO, N.Y. – SUNY Geneseo's Cooper Fensterstock scored two goals and the Knights shut out the Hamilton College Continentals 3-0 at Geneseo's Ira S. Wilson Arena on Saturday night.

Season Update
Hamilton (8-8-0 overall) went 2-4 in non-conference games this season. The Continentals played all six of those contests away from home. The nationally ranked No. 8 Knights (12-4-2) recorded their fourth shutout this season.

How It Happened
  • Fensterstock scored a power-play goal 9:54 into the first period on assists by Tyson Gilmour and Justin Cmunt. The shot on goal was Geneseo's second of the power play.
  • Domenic Garozzo made it 2-0 with 23 seconds left in the second period right after another shot hit the post.
  • During a Hamilton power play midway through the second, shots by James Philpott '25 and Max Bulawka '26 that would have tied the score clanged off the post.
  • The Continentals pulled their goaltender for an extra skater with 2:53 remaining in the third period.
  • Fensterstock sealed the win with an unassisted goal into the empty net 42 seconds later.

Notes
  • Hamilton goaltender Jack Grant '24 made 29 saves.
  • Fred Allaire '23 won 17 of 27 faceoffs for the Continentals. Allaire is winning 57.5 percent of his faceoffs.
  • Hamilton had seven shots on goal during its four power-play chances.
  • The Knights were 1-for-3 on the power play.
