Anderson ’23 helps lead men’s basketball to NESCAC win at Bates

Continentals shot 69 percent from the floor in the second half

LEWISTON, Maine -- Hamilton College's Eric Anderson '23 tallied a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds and the Continentals posted a 67-64 NESCAC win over the Bates College Bobcats at Bates' Alumni Gym on Friday evening. 
 
How It Happened
  • Conner Rood '23 made a backdoor cut for a layup and gave Hamilton a 65-64 lead with 27 seconds left. 
  • Teja Singh '25 secured a steal on the inbounds pass and made the layup for the three-point cushion. 
  • Bates attempted two 3-pointers in the final seconds but failed to connect. 
  • The Continentals opened the first half with eight straight points. 
  • The Bobcats answered with a 22-4 spurt for a 22-12 lead with 8:26 to go. 
  • Bates stretched their lead to a dozen at 27-15 with six minutes remaining. 
  • Hamilton went on an 8-0 run during the next four minutes and trailed by four at 27-23. 
  • After a Bates 3-pointer, Anderson hit the last bucket of the half and the Continentals trailed 30-25 at the break.
  • Neither team led by more than five points in the second half as the lead changed 15 times.
  • Bates shot 34.9 percent (22-63) from the floor, including 9 of 25 from beyond the arc, and went 11-for-12 at the charity stripe.
  • Hamilton shot 50 percent (27-54) from the floor and was 11-for-15 at the line. 
  • The Continentals registered 40 points in the paint to the Bobcats' 18. 
  • Hamilton owned a 40-31 advantage on the glass.

  • Hamilton improved to 10-6 overall and 2-1 in the NESCAC. 
  • Bates moved to 5-9 overall and 0-2 in the conference. 
  • Anderson shot 6 of 10 from the floor and posted his second double-double this season. 
  • Patrick Mogan '23 tallied a season-high 15 points on 6 of 8 shooting. 
  • Hank Morgan '25 and Garret Keyhani '26 chipped in 10 points apiece.  
  • Singh handed out six assists.
  • Steph Baxter shot 9 of 18 from the floor and led Bates with 23 points and three steals.
  • Peter Psyhogeos contributed 11 points and hit 3 of 5 from 3-point range. 
  • Jahmir Primer collected 10 points and a team-high four assists.
