Carman ’24 leads volleyball in four-set win at SUNY Morrisville

Junior outside hitter tallied season-high 17 kills in non-conference victory

Hamilton College's Kate Carman '24 led the Continentals to a four-set victory (24-26, 25-23, 25-16, 25-23) against SUNY Morrisville at Morrisville's Student Activities Center on Wednesday evening. 
 
How It Happened 
  • In a close first set, SUNY Morrisville gathered a late three-point run for a 26-24 decision. 
  • Hamilton tallied a .429 hitting percentage with 13 kills in the second set and capitalized on six Mustang attack errors to even the match at one set apiece. 
  • The Continentals jumped out to an 8-2 start in the third set on six kills by four different players and a service ace by Deirdre Corrigan '23. Hamilton led as many as 12 points in the third set.
  • Hamilton was on the verge of closing out the third set at 21-9 but the Mustangs refused to go down quietly with a 7-2 rally. The Continentals finally ended the set on a hard kill by Summer McClintic '24. 
  • Hamilton held a 7-3 advantage early in the fourth set before the Mustangs worked their way back into it. The teams traded points and eventually Morrisville tied the score at 21-21. 
  • The Continentals found the momentum they needed to finish the set and wrap up the match on one last kill by Carman. 
Notes 
  • Hamilton improved to 6-3 overall this season and is 10-3 all-time against the Mustangs. 
  • SUNY Morrisville moved to 10-4 on the season. 
  • Carman tallied a season-high 17 kills. 
  • McClintic tied a career best with 13 kills. 
  • Corrigan tied a career high with six aces. 
  • Chiara Morley-McLaughlin '24 earned a season-high four blocks. 
  • Melissa Morelli '24 handed out 33 assists and collected a season-high 12 digs. 
  • SUNY Morrisville's Emily Huppee notched 22 kills while Brianna Gates added 20. 
  • Kada Tillman led the Mustangs at the net with six blocks. 
  • Siobhan Moore racked up 42 assists and three aces.

  • Hamilton will return to NESCAC action at nationally ranked No. 23 Tufts University on Saturday, Oct. 1 at 1 p.m.
