Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s soccer cruises to 4-1 win at Utica in non-conference play

The Continentals pulled away with three goals in the second half

Hamilton College first-years Daisy Sullivan '26, Maddie Ledbury '26 and Taryn Gillis '26 scored in the Continentals' 4-1 non-conference win over the Utica University Pioneers at Utica's Pioneer Turf and Track and Field Complex on Sunday afternoon.

How It Happened
  • Ledbury got the Continentals started in the 15th minute on a well-executed corner kick. Caroline Dawson '23 sent a left-footed rocket to the back post and Ledbury delivered a one-bounce header that snuck past goalkeeper Courtney Connolly.
  • The Pioneers evened the score at 29:17 powered by a free kick after a Hamilton foul. Utica's Jenna Keeman took the kick and sent it to the middle of the box where Rylee Lamphere tapped it in on a high header.
  • Hamilton took back the lead in the 50th minute after a brilliant play off a throw-in. Oliva Zubarik '25 sailed a beautiful cross to the box where Gillis won a header duel with a Utica defender and Sullivan placed it in the left corner.
  • Less than five minutes later, Hamilton extended its lead on a goal by Gillis. Dawson booted another corner kick and Gillis pinballed it to the left corner with her right foot.
  • Ashlyn Gaulin '23 settled the match with a goal at 76:24. The Continentals won possession and worked their way up the field before Frankie Lilly '23 received a cross and fired a shot that was blocked. Gaulin found the rebound directly in front of the line.
  • Hamilton outshot Utica 32-13, including 17-7 in the second half.
  • The Continentals held an 11-0 edge in corner kicks.
