Amherst College's Caroline Tilton posted 12 kills and the Mammoths defeated the Hamilton College Continentals in three sets at Amherst's LeFrak Gymnasium on Friday night.

Hamilton lost for the first time in five matches. The Continentals hadn't lost a set going into tonight. Both teams were playing their NESCAC opener. The Mammoths improved their record to 3-2.

How It Happened
- There were 10 ties and five lead changes in a wild first set. With the score tied at 22-22, Amherst took the lead for good on a Hamilton service error and block assists by Tilton and Kinsey Cronin.
- The Mammoths went in front to stay with three straight points that made it 5-2. The points were scored on a bad set by the Continentals and a pair of Hamilton attack errors.
- Amherst jumped out to a 6-2 lead in the third set and never looked back. The Mammoths led by as many as 12 points at 19-7.
