Margaronis ’25 lifts men’s soccer to NESCAC win with two goals

Sophomore recorded first career multi-goal match in 2-1 victory at Trinity

Hamilton College's Pandelis Margaronis '25 scored both goals in the Continentals' 2-1 NESCAC win against the Trinity College Bantams at Trinity Soccer Field on Saturday.
 
How It Happened 
  • Trinity's James Donaldson opened the scoring in the 10th minute with a penalty kick.
  • Just 29 seconds later, Margaronis converted from the penalty spot and evened the score. 
  • The Continentals had chances to take the lead early in the second half as they produced three shots with two on target in the first three minutes.   
  • After putting pressure on the Bantam defense, Hamilton earned a corner kick and worked the ball to the top of the box where Margaronis scored the go-ahead goal with 15:21 remaining. 
  • Hamilton's defense held Trinity to one shot attempt in the second half. 
  • The Continentals outshot the Bantams 12-2. 
 Notes
  • Hamilton improved to 2-0-0 overall with the win in its conference opener while Trinity dropped to 0-1-1 (0-1 NESCAC). 
  • The last time Hamilton had a 2-0 start was 2018. 
  • Margaronis' goals were his first this season and the team's first from the penalty spot since Oct. 13, 2019.  
  • Hamilton has won the last seven matchups against Trinity.
  • Seven Continentals played the full 90 minutes.
  • Trinity's Bernardo Simoes collected seven saves.  
  • The Bantams held a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.
