Wesleyan University's Olivia Lai scored five goals and assisted on another in the Cardinals' 18-8 NESCAC win against the Hamilton College Continentals at Wesleyan's Smith Field on Wednesday.

Nationally ranked No. 13 Hamilton (6-4, 4-4 NESCAC) lost for the fourth time in its last five games. The midweek game was originally scheduled for April 2. The Continentals are back on the road against No. 9 Tufts University for another conference contest on Saturday, April 23 at noon.

The No. 11 Cardinals (10-3, 5-3) have won five of the last six meetings with Hamilton. Wesleyan led 3-1 at the end of the first quarter, 9-3 at the half and 12-7 after three quarters. The Cardinals scored the first two goals and led for all but the opening 52 seconds.

Alana King '24 paced the Continentals' offense with three points on two goals and an assist. King also won two draws.
Eva Abel '22 scored two goals and
Aine Cleary '25 picked up two assists.
Meghan Lane '24 scored her second goal this season, scooped up five ground balls and caused two turnovers.
Maeve Luparello '23, Kaitlin Reed '24 and
Casey Fiore '24 combined to make five saves.

Hamilton was still within two goals at 5-3 with 4:04 left in the second quarter when Abel tallied an unassisted goal. Wesleyan proceeded to score four straight goals in the last 3:11 of the quarter, including three by Lai. The Continentals didn't get closer than five goals in the second half.

Olivia Seymour '22 tops the Continentals with 12 assists and 32 points. Lane leads the way with 45 draw controls, 27 ground balls and 18 caused turnovers.
