Hamilton College's
Rowan Brumbaugh '23 scored a career-high three goals and scooped up four ground balls in the Continentals' 13-5 win against the Utica University Pioneers at Utica's Gaetano Stadium on Tuesday.

Hamilton (1-1 overall) retained the Contineer Cup as the Continentals extended their win streak to 11 games against the Pioneers. Hamilton scored the first three goals and led the entire way. The Continentals enjoyed an 8-2 advantage at the half. Hamilton took twice as many shots as Utica (56-28), held a 43-26 advantage in ground balls, and won 14 of 21 faceoffs.

The Pioneers (1-1), who are members of the Empire 8 Conference, scored on two of their five extra-man opportunities. Jon Goodspeed made 22 saves and John Avery led the offense with two goals and an assist. Kevin Parisi posted a goal, eight ground balls and four caused turnovers, and Ethan Brown picked up six ground balls.

Zach Perotto '24 boasted two goals and an assist, and
Troy Pollock '25 and

Seamus Fagan '23 turned away 12 shots and collected five ground balls.
Quin Crowley '22 won 8 of 13 faceoffs and grabbed five ground balls, and
Michael Scoleri '24 won 5 of 7.
Marc Welch '22 led the defense with four caused turnovers and added three ground balls.

Brumbaugh scored all of his goals by midway through the second quarter. His first one early in the first kicked off the scoring. Utica scored twice in the last 2:32 of the first quarter and trailed 3-2 after one.

Brumbaugh found the back of the net with 11:44 left in the second quarter and put the Continentals up 6-2 on his last tally with 7:35 remaining. Hamilton added two more goals 12 seconds apart late in the half, and increased their cushion to seven goals on a score by Wunderle with 4:55 to go in the third quarter. The Continentals led 10-4 after three, and the Pioneers didn't get closer than five goals in the second half.

Hamilton plays its home opener on Saturday, March 12 against NESCAC foe Bowdoin College at 1 p.m. on Steuben Field.
