Justin Pearl '25 and
Seamus Fagan '23 led the Continentals to a 7-2 NESCAC win over the Colby College Mules at Colby's Seaverns Field on Saturday afternoon.

Hamilton (4-3, 1-3 NESCAC), which has won five of the last six meeting with the Mules, picked up its first conference win this spring. The Continentals led 2-0 after the first quarter, 3-1 at the half and 5-2 after three quarters. Hamilton hosts Wesleyan University on Steuben Field for another NESCAC game on Saturday, April 2 at 1 p.m.

Colby (2-3, 1-3) actually held a 42-40 shot advantage, won 8 of 13 faceoffs and committed fewer turnovers (16 compared to 20 for the Continentals). The Mules didn't cash in on any of their six extra-man opportunities.

Fagan had a lot to do with Colby's inability to take advantage of its man-up chances. He made a career-high 24 saves including nine in the fourth quarter. Fagan is third in the conference with an 8.05 goals against average, second with a .678 save percentage and first with 16.57 saves per game. He has made 20 or more stops three times this season.

Pearl scored a season-high four goals and has nine goals and 11 points this season.
Marc Welch '22 scooped up a career-best eight ground balls and caused two turnovers.
Cole Johnson '23 chipped in five ground balls and Fagan was credited with five as well. Hamilton owned a 36-26 advantage in ground balls including 10-3 in the fourth quarter.

Jack Goller and Jack Rickards scored the goals for the Mules. Will Rickards turned away 12 shots.

Pearl put the Continentals on the scoreboard just 66 seconds into the first quarter when he scored from 15 yards out from straight on with the goal.
Will Braun '22 followed 73 seconds later with his first goal this season. Braun moved to his right, turned back to the left towards the middle of the box and scored from 12 yards out.

Pearl made it 3-0 with 13:15 left in the second quarter when he drove in from the left wing and scored from seven yards out. Rickards pulled Colby within two goals with 8:25 remaining in the second.

Pearl was at it again 32 seconds into the third quarter, this time driving in from the right wing and shooting and scoring from five yards away. Goller cut the Mules' deficit to two goals again with 9:10 to go, but Pearl restored the three-goal lead with 2:58 left in the third. Pearl took a pass from
Rowan Brumbaugh '23 about eight yards from the goal and scored from just outside the crease.

Christian Byrne '24 gave Hamilton a 6-2 advantage with his fifth goal and 14
th point 71 seconds into the fourth quarter when he moved in from the left wing and scored from five yards out. Defenseman
Jayme Wilde '25 put the exclamation point on the win with his sixth goal midway through the final quarter. Colby committed a turnover in the Continentals' defensive zone and Johnson picked up the ground ball and sprinted across midfield with it. He passed ahead to Wilde and he fired the ball into the back of the net from 10 yards out.
