Hamilton College won both its non-conference games on Friday at Legends Way Field in Clermont, Fla. The Continentals defeated the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire 6-5 in eight innings in the first game, and racked up 18 hits in a 14-7 win against St. Lawrence University in the afternoon.

Hamilton (7-1 overall) is back in action on Sunday, March 20. The Continentals take on Colby College at 9 a.m. and Buffalo State College at 11:15 a.m. back at Legends Way again.

Vicky Dunn '22 boasted three hits and was issued an intentional walk.
Ella Heftved '25 collected two hits, including her first home run, and two RBIs.
Emma Tomlins '23 singled and doubled.

The teams were tied at 5-5 after seven innings so they went to extras. A UW-EC runner was placed on second base and she eventually moved to third with two outs.
Natalie Beebe '24 was able to close out the inning with a strikeout on a changeup and it was Hamilton's turn.

Katlynn McGivney '23 was placed on second and she advanced on a groundout by Beebe. The Blugolds intentionally walked Dunn and Heftved to open the possibility of getting a force out at any bag.
Kiana Arcayena '22 pinch hit for
Shelby McVey '22 and drew a bases-loaded walk that ended the game.

After two scoreless innings, UW-EC struck first in the third with two runs. Haley Lamberson led off the inning with a single to left field and came in on a two-run homer by Megan Maruna.

Hamilton answered in the bottom half with two runs. McGivney singled to second and
Emma Tansky '25 followed with another infield single. Dunn loaded the bases on a bunt single and McVey hit the ball through the right side and brought in both Tansky and Dunn.

The Blugolds tacked on three more runs in the fourth for a 5-2 advantage. Sadie Erikson hammered a hard shot over the center field fence and Maria Back hit a single to left field and stole second. Lamberson gathered her second hit of the morning with a single to right that scored Back, and Lamberson advanced to second on the throw. She stole third and scampered home on a Hamilton error.

The Continentals tied the score again in the fifth. Dunn led off with a hard-hit double to right center and Heftved smashed a home run over the left field fence. With two outs,
Samantha Smith '23 reached first on an error, and Tomlins roped a pitch down the left field line that scored Smith.

Hamilton had a promising chance to win in the bottom of the seventh when it loaded the bases with two outs, but UW-EC was able to get an inning-ending groundout.

Beebe improved to 3-0 with four impressive shutout innings of relief. She allowed just one hit and fanned six.

The Continentals banged out six extra-base hits and scored in every inning but the fourth. McVey went 4-for-4 with two doubles, three runs scored and two RBIs. Dunn drove in three runs on two hits, including her second homer. Tansky posted three hits and McGivney and Arcayena chipped in two. Heftved was 2-for-3 with two walks and three runs scored, and
Alessandra Priante '24 doubled twice.

Beebe picked up her fourth win of the season as she allowed one unearned run on six hits and struck out a pair in four innings of relief. She has allowed one earned run in 28 innings for a 0.25 ERA. She has struck out 32 batters and issued just one walk.

Hamilton struck early, scoring two two-out runs in the top of the first inning powered by a home run over the fence in right center by Dunn. Heftved walked and McVey hit a double to left center that drove in Heftved. St. Lawrence split the Continentals' lead in half with a run in the bottom half when Vivian Johnson led off with a double to center and scored on a Hamilton error.

The Continentals added two runs in the second.
Charlie Quinn '25 earned her first hit of the day with a double to center and scored on a double by Priante. Tanksy's single to left field brought Priante home.

Hamilton kept the offensive momentum going and extended its advantage to 6-1 in the third inning. Heftved led off with a hard-hit single up the middle and advanced to second on a McVey infield single. After a double steal,
Madison Hinojos '24 drove in McVey on a groundout.

The Saints roared back with five runs on six hits in the bottom half of the inning. Lauryn Best doubled into the gap in right center and advanced to third after a single up the middle by Kayla Minst. Sofia Camillieri drove the ball through the left side and advanced Minst to scoring position and Best to home. Aiyana Holloman loaded the bases on a single to right and pinch hitter Margo Hopper tied the score with a grand slam.

St. Lawrence took a 7-6 lead in the fourth with its last run of the day. Cora Ferguson reached first on an error and advanced to second on a groundout. Minst singled to center and Ferguson scored on another error that allowed Camillieri to reach first. With the bases loaded, Beebe shut down the two-out rally with a strikeout.

Hamilton tied the score again in the fifth. Heftved walked and advanced to second on McVey's third hit. Arcayena's single through the left side loaded the bases and Quinn plated McVey on a sacrifice fly to center.

The Continentals went in front for good with four runs in the sixth inning. McGivney hit a liner through the right side and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Tansky singled to third base and Dunn's bunt single drove in McGivney. Heftved advanced the runners on a groundout. Dunn took third and Tansky scored on a Saints throwing error for a 9-7 lead. McVey walked and Arcayena singled to right field and plated Dunn. Hinojos reached first and McVey scored on a St. Lawrence error.

Hamilton clinched the win with three insurance runs in the seventh inning. McGivney singled to the pitcher and stole second. Tansky followed with another infield single and Dunn drove in McGivney with a groundout. Heftved scored Tansky with a single to right and McVey cracked a run-scoring double to left field. Â
