Hamilton College defeated SUNY Geneseo and Franklin & Marshall College in the Continentals' first two games this spring at Legends Way Ballfields in Clermont, Fla., on Sunday.

Hamilton posted a 4-1 win against Geneseo behind a masterful pitching performance by
Natalie Beebe '24 in the morning. The Continentals racked up 10 hits and six walks in a 7-5 victory over Franklin & Marshall in the afternoon.

Hamilton takes on Salem State University and Carthage College at Sleepy Hollow Fields in Leesburg, Fla., on Monday, March 14. Game times are set for 3 p.m. and 5:15.

Beebe allowed one run (in the bottom of the seventh inning) on four hits and a walk as she struck out six batters in the complete game effort.
Kiana Arcayena '22 singled, tripled and drove in two runs.
Shelby McVey '22 and
Vicky Dunn '22 cracked doubles.

There was no score until the top of the fifth when Arcayena smacked a two-out, two-run triple down the right field line and came around to score on a throwing error.
Katlynn McGivney '23 and
Emma Tansky '25 scored on the play.

The Continentals scored again with two outs in the sixth inning.
Mikayla Worzel '23 drew a walk and scored on McVey's double to right center for a 4-0 lead.

Franklin & Marshall

Hamilton scored five runs in the bottom of the first inning and took the lead for good with two more in the third. Neither team scored after the third inning.
Â
McGivney and Tansky had two hits and a walk apiece. McGivney stole three bases and Tansky swiped a pair. Arcayena and Beebe doubled and drove in two runs apiece.

Tansky pitched all seven innings and picked up her first collegiate victory. She allowed five runs on 10 hits and four walks and fanned six.

The Diplomats (7-3 overall) scored two runs in the top of the first but the Continentals responded in the bottom of the inning. Beebe plated two runs with a double to left center and Dunn drove in another with a bases-loaded single. McGivney forced in the fifth run when she drew a walk with the bases jammed.

Franklin & Marshall whacked a solo homer in the second and tied the score at 5-5 with two more runs in the third. Arcayena came through for the second time in one day in the bottom of the inning. Her two-out double to left center scored McGivney and Tansky and put Hamilton ahead to stay, just as her triple did against Geneseo.

The Diplomats put runners in scoring position in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings, but Tansky closed the door without any further damage every time. She allowed just a two-out single in the seventh.
