Hamilton College's
Olivia Seymour '22 scored twice, including the go-ahead goal with 9:17 left in the fourth quarter, and the Continentals edged the Bowdoin College Polar Bears 9-8 at Bowdoin's rain-soaked Ryan Field on Saturday.

Nationally ranked No. 20 Hamilton (2-0, 2-0 NESCAC) has won five of the last seven meetings with the Polar Bears. The Continentals scored on both of their free-position shot attempts. Hamilton returns home to face SUNY Oneonta in a non-conference game on Wednesday, March 16 at 3 p.m. on Steuben Field.

No. 18 Bowdoin (1-2, 0-2) scored on 3 of 9 free-position shots. Fiona Bundy, Lauren Burke and Sophia Sudano scored two goals each. Bundy added four ground balls, four draw controls and two caused turnovers. Izzy Cisneros made seven saves in 45 minutes played and Sophia Rutman added two stops in the fourth quarter.

Lauren Hamilton '22 and
Clarissa Hurley '23 added two goals apiece for the Continentals.
Emmy Goodwin '22 led the team with four ground balls and
Meghan Lane '24 contributed four draw controls, three caused turnovers and three ground balls.
Maeve Luparello '23 started in goal and turned away four shots in the first quarter.
Kaitlin Reed '24 (two saves),
Casey Fiore '24 (two saves) and
Maggie Reville '22 (two saves) followed Luparello as each played one quarter.

On the eventual game winner, Seymour had the ball behind the Polar Bear goal and moved around the left side. Once Seymour was in front, she turned and shot low inside the near post. Neither team led by more than two goals and there were seven ties and four lead changes.

Bowdoin had the ball and a chance to send the game to overtime as time was running out in the fourth quarter. A Polar Bear attacker drove to the middle of the fan with less than 10 seconds remaining and
Anna Zoccolillo '25 slid over to help on defense. Zoccolillo knocked the ball loose, picked it up and ran towards midfield as time ran out.

The score was tied 4-4 at the break but Bundy put Bowdoin ahead just 64 seconds into the third quarter. The Continentals responded with a goal by Hamilton 2:20 later, and another tally by Seymour with 8:41 to go. Hamilton started below the goal line to the left of the crease, drove hard into the fan and scored on a low shot. Seymour's was a free-position shot from the right wing, and she squeezed a shot inside the near post. Sudano tied the score 66 seconds later.

The Continentals scored the next two goals and took the largest lead of the day for either team at 8-6.
Aine Cleary '25 moved to the left with the ball, drove right into the fan and scored from the right wing with 6:51 left.
Alana King '24 scored with 4:00 remaining as Hamilton was up a player thanks to a Bowdoin yellow card. King started her free-position shot just to the left of the top of the fan. She ran towards the middle and scored on an underhand shot from the edge of the right side of the crease. The Polar Bears pulled within 8-7 with 2:05 to go in the third and tied the score again with 10:06 left in the fourth.

The Continentals'
Eva Abel '22 kicked off the scoring on a nice pass from
Sarah Moore '22 just 1:23 into the first quarter. Hamilton tied the score at 2-2 with 1:10 remaining in the first on a shot from close range. Hurley put the Continentals up 4-3 with 5:11 to go in the second quarter on two great individual efforts 37 seconds apart.
