Women’s basketball rolls past William Smith, Hill ’26 scores 12

First-year registered her fourth consecutive double-digit outing

Hamilton College's Althea Hill '26 netted 12 points and the Continentals posted a 59-43 non-conference win against the William Smith College Herons at Hamilton's Margaret Bundy Scott Field House on Tuesday evening. 
 
How It Happened
  • Hill put Hamilton on the board with a pair of 3-pointers in the opening five minutes. 
  • The Continentals' Taylor Lambo '26 drove into the paint for a layup, Hill hit her third three-ball and Lambo took it to the rim again for a 13-5 lead with 3:22 left. 
  • Hamilton wrapped up the first quarter with a 9-2 run and claimed a 15-point cushion. Emma Sehring '23, Olivia Davis '23, Katie Hansen '24, Abigael Morin '25 and Maria Mercado Rengel '24 all scored in the spurt. 
  • The Continentals continued to pull away in the second quarter as they built a 24-point lead at the break at 39-15. Lambo scored six points late in the quarter.
  • Hamilton claimed its largest lead of 25 points at 48-23 after an offensive rebound and putback by Davis with 19 seconds remaining in the third quarter. 
  • The Herons slowly chipped away at their deficit as they outscored the Continentals 20-11 in the final frame, but didn't get closer than 15 points. 
  • Hamilton shot 36.9 percent (24-65) and went 6-for-7 at the charity stripe. 
  • Hamilton's defense was on lock as they held William Smith to 24.1 percent shooting (14-58) from the floor, including 4 of 17 from beyond the arc. 
  • The Continentals held a commanding 51-37 advantage on the glass.  
Notes
  • Hamilton improved to 4-1 overall with its third straight win against the Herons. 
  • William Smith, which is a member of the Liberty League, moved to 1-3 on the season. 
  • Hill was 3 of 4 from the 3-point line. She is second in the NESCAC with a 3-point field goal percentage of 55.9 percent (19 of 34).
  • Lambo tallied 10 points and a pair of steals. 
  • Mercado Rengel added nine points.
  • Davis collected eight points and six rebounds. 
  • Sehring contributed a team-best 10 rebounds and two blocks. 
  • Brooke Jarvis led William Smith with 10 points. 
  • Kerstin Kelly added eight points while Katie Smythe netted seven for the Herons. 
  • William Smith's Lauren DeVaney registered a team-best 11 boards.

  • Hamilton will host No. 16/18 University of Rochester in more non-conference action on Saturday, Dec. 3 at 4 p.m.
