Men’s basketball downed by La Roche in tournament at RIT

Morgan ’25 netted 17 points for the Continentals, who play SUNY Canton in Sunday’s consolation

La Roche University's Joe Pipilo scored 29 points and the Redhawks posted an 82-60 win against the Hamilton College Continentals at Rochester Institute of Technology's 2022 Harold J. Brodie Tournament on Saturday evening.
 
How It Happened
  • La Roche jumped out to a 6-0 lead on back-to-back 3-pointers, and created an 11-point advantage at 14-3 with 15:40 left. 
  • Hamilton answered with a 15-4 run and tied the score at 18 apiece with 7:12 remaining. Eric Anderson '23, Hank Morgan '25, Liam Regan '23, Conner Rood '23 and Teja Singh '25 all scored in the run. 
  • The Continentals claimed their only lead at 20-19 on a William Gordon '23 layup. 
  • La Roche responded with another 6-0 spurt on a pair of 3-pointers.
  • Hamilton worked its way back to within three points at 29-26 with 3:01 left in the first half. 
  • The Redhawks put together a 7-2 run and extended their lead to eight at 36-28. 
  • Anderson's last-second 3-ball cut the Continentals' deficit to five points at 36-31 at the break. 
  • La Roche started the second half with a 13-2 spurt and opened up a 16-point lead at 49-33. 
  • La Roche led by double digits the rest of the way and went up by as many as 25 points in the final minute. 
  • The Redhawks shot 50 percent (32-64) from the field including 45.2 percent (14-31) from beyond the arc (14-31).
  • Hamilton held a 47-35 edge on the glass. 
  • The Continentals shot 34.3 percent (23-67) from the floor, including 26 percent (7-27) from long range.

  • Hamilton moved to 3-2 overall. 
  • La Roche improved to 2-4 on the season. 
  • Morgan finished with a team-high 17 points after he shot 7 of 12 from the field and hit 3 of 7 from 3-point land. 
  • Anderson and Patrick Mogan '23 chipped in eight points apiece. 
  • Regan contributed six points and tied Gordon with a team-best seven boards. Gordon scored seven points.
  • Pipilo nailed 11 of 16 from the floor and went 7 of 11 from behind the 3-point line.
  • Devon Darrell tallied 13 points and seven assists.
  • La Roche's Michael Brooks added 12 points and three steals. 
  • Jordan Grayson recorded nine points and a team-high six rebounds for the Redhawks.

  • Hamilton faces SUNY Canton (1-6 overall) in the tournament's consolation game on Sunday, Nov. 27 at 1 p.m.
