Morgan '25 guides men's basketball to consolation game win at RIT

Sophomore scores career-high 23 points in victory over SUNY Canton

Hamilton College's Hank Morgan '25 poured in a career-high 23 points and the Continentals defeated the SUNY Canton Roos 76-51 in the consolation game of the 2022 Harold J. Brodie Tournament at Rochester Institute of Technology's Clark Memorial Gymnasium on Sunday afternoon.
 
Season Update
Hamilton improved to 4-2 overall after the Continentals split their two games at RIT. SUNY Canton, which is a member of the North Atlantic Conference, dropped to 1-7.
 
How It Happened
  • After giving up the first basket, Hamilton scored the next seven points and led the rest of the way. Morgan nailed a 3-pointer and Conner Rood '23 and Teja Singh '25 made layups.
  • Owen Kane '25 gave the Continentals their first double-digit lead at 17-7 on a feed from Eric Anderson '23 with 13:53 left in the first half.
  • Hamilton's largest lead of the half was 17 points at 38-21 on two free throws by Anderson with 3:13 remaining.
  • The Continentals took a 39-27 advantage into the break.
  • A free throw by Morgan put Hamilton up by 20 points for the first time at 54-34 with 12:50 to go.
  • A steal and pass by Rood to Garret Keyhani '26 for a 3-pointer handed the Continentals their largest lead of 27 points at 63-36 with 9:29 left.
  • An offensive rebound and putback by Hamilton's Brendan Gagan '24 with 24 seconds remaining accounted for the final margin.
 
Notes
  • Morgan was 9 of 12 from the floor including 3 of 5 from 3-point range. He's third in the NESCAC with 18.2 points per game, seventh in field goal percentage at 56.2 percent and fifth in 3-point field goal percentage at 43.2 percent.
  • Morgan was named to the all-tournament team.
  • Singh chipped in 11 points, five assists and three steals for the Continentals. He's fourth in the conference with 4.3 assists per game and third with an assist-to-turnover ratio of 3.7.
  • Keyhani grabbed eight rebounds – all on the defensive glass.
  • Hamilton scored 21 points off 18 Canton turnovers.
  • The Continentals blocked eight shots, which helped lead to the Roos shooting just 31.3 percent from the field. They were also 3 of 19 from beyond the arc.
  • Quran DuBois paced Canton with 15 points and DeMerrill Levy added 12.
  • Fadil Atcha-Dedji corralled a game-high nine boards.
