Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

No. 6/8 men’s soccer finishes with 2-2 draw against Bates

Sophomore duo scores for the Continentals in NESCAC draw

Hamilton College's Charles Hawthorn '25 and Luke Peplowski '25 netted second half goals in the Continentals' 2-2 tie with the Bates College Bobcats on Saturday afternoon on Hamilton's Love Field.

How It Happened
  • After a scoreless first half, Bates took advantage of a free kick in its zone. Henry Kuenstler sent a cross to the center of the box where Max McKersie headed the ball into the upper left-hand corner in the 50thminute.
  • Less than seven minutes later, Hawthorn pursued a loose ball in the right side of the box and evened the score. Hamilton worked the ball up the right side and Peplowski chipped in a cross originally intended for Jude Rouhana '25. Hawthorn hunted the ball down and snuck it past Bates' Nico Hessel.
  • The Continentals wasted little time in taking the lead in the 62nd minute after Hamilton took possession on a Bobcats goal kick. Rouhana fed Hawthorn who quickly passed it to Peplowski. Peplowski seized the opportunity and fired a no-doubter to the left corner for the go-ahead goal.
  • With only 39 ticks remaining, the Bobcats found the equalizer on a series of short passes in the box. Tife Agunloye lined it over to Cesar Hoover who dished a no-look pass to Rawson Welch and Welch lightly tapped it into the net.
  • The Continentals carried a 6-2 edge in corner kicks.
  • Hamilton outshot Bates 26-7 including 16-3 in the second half.
