Hawthorn ‘25 makes sure the Continentals stay unbeaten with late goal

Hamilton College's Charles Hawthorn '25 netted the equalizer in the 82nd minute and the Continentals forced a draw with the Colby College Mules on Sunday afternoon at Hamilton's Love Field. 
 
How It Happened 
  • Colby controlled possession most of the first half and the Mules' Aidan O'Brien scored in the 37th minute after a corner kick. 
  • Hamilton evened the score with 8:16 left. The Continentals went on the counterattack as John Reidy '26 weaved his way through traffic and fed Hawthorn who rocketed a missile to the upper left-hand corner. 
  • The Continentals held a 6-5 edge in corner kicks. 
  • Hamilton carried a one-shot advantage (20-19) over Colby with six on net. 
  • Colby put 13 shots on goal.
Notes 
  • Hamilton (8-0-3 overall, 4-0-3 NESCAC) is ranked eighth in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 poll and sixth in the D3soccer.com Top 25 poll. 
  • Colby moved to 3-2-7 (0-2-5 NESCAC).
  • Hamilton is 7-1-2 in its last 10 matches against the Mules. 
  • Hawthorn netted his fourth goal of the year and is tied for second in points with nine. 
  • Reidy registered his first collegiate assist. 
  • Ben Ziegler '24 notched a season-high 12 saves. 
  • Aidan O'Brien tallied his second goal of the season.
  • Matt Morin collected five saves for Colby.
