Bowdoin College's Lauren Lange led all players with 17 kills and the Polar Bears defeated the Hamilton College Continentals in an intense, five-set NESCAC match (22-25, 21-25, 25-20, 25-18, 16-14) at Hamilton's Margaret Bundy Scott Field House on Friday evening.
How It Happened
- Down 20-17 in the opening set, Hamilton scored eight of the final 10 points including kills by four different players.
- Hamilton prevailed in the second set after taking the final three points on a kill and two blocks by Maggie Nichols '26.
- The Polar Bears came out swinging in the third set as they registered a match-high .243 hitting percentage. Bowdoin's 7-1 run turned a 3-0 deficit into a 7-4 lead. After the Continentals recorded three straight points and tied the score, the Polar Bears went in front for good with another 7-1 spurt and forced a fourth set.
- Hamilton had a 17-16 edge in the fourth set, but Bowdoin closed with a 9-1 run. Lange had three kills and helped the Polar Bears force a fifth set.
- Hamilton held a three-point lead at 7-4 in the deciding set before Bowdoin evened the score, and then went on a 5-2 spurt for a 12-9 advantage. Hamilton responded with four consecutive points and took back the lead at 13-12. The Polar Bears scored three of the next four points on kills and the match ended on a ball-handling error by the Continentals.
- Both Hamilton and Bowdoin tallied 56 kills.
- The Continentals collected a season-high 11 blocks.

- The Polar Bears' Maya White added 24 digs.
- Mary John led Bowdoin at the net with four blocks.
- Ella Haugen registered 43 assists and 14 digs.
