Women's swimming and diving wins in first home meet in two years

Irene Keh '24 and Sam Karlson '23 account for a total of seven event victories

Hamilton College defeated Rochester Institute of Technology in a dual meet -- the Continentals' first home event at Bristol Pool since the 2019-20 season – on Saturday afternoon.

Hamilton prevailed by a score of 162-120 and improved its dual meet record to 2-3. The Continentals return to the pool on Wednesday, Jan. 19 for another home meet with Union College at 6 p.m.

Hamilton honored its nine seniors before the meet since the remaining two home events are scheduled to be held on a weekday. Those seniors are Kenzie Burton '22, Claire Campbell '22, Carolyn Gevinski '22, Meredith Gioia '22, Lucy Hamann '22, Karly Leiman '22, Phoebe Parker '22, Jillian Rhodes '22 and Amanda Tougas '22.

The Continentals finished first in all 14 swim events. Irene Keh '24 and Sam Karlson '23 were at least a part of four victories apiece.

Hamilton's 200-yard medley relay posted a time of 1:52.16 and was led by Hamann, Keh, Gioia and Karlson. Gioia and Karlson were joined by Campbell and Katt Withers '25 in the 200 freestyle relay, and they finished with a time of 1:41.75.

Keh was a winner in the 100 and 200 breaststroke with times of 1:08.96 and 2:29.65, respectively. She also took first place in the 200 individual medley (2:14.67).

Karlson swept the sprint free events. She won the 50 free in 24.97 seconds and the 100 free in 53.86 seconds. Gioia finished first in the 100 butterfly (1:00.14) and third in the 100 free with a time of 56.39 seconds.

Hamann captured the top spot in the backstroke events with times of 1:00.77 in the 100 back and 2:12.62 in the 200 back. Emma Nordquist '25 was a winner in the 500 free (5:28.84) and the 1,000 free (11:11.82).

Madison Goodman-Leong '25 claimed first place in the 200 fly (2:10.65) and was runner-up in the 100 free with a time of 55.86 seconds and the 200 IM (2:14.76). Goodman-Leong was edged by Keh by just nine-hundredths of a second in the 200 IM.

Claire Tzouros '25 finished first in the 200 free (2:03.69) and Withers was second (2:03.84). Marissa Duffy '25 landed in second place in the 500 free (5:32.72) and Karly Leiman '22 was runner-up in the 100 fly (1:02.05).
