Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Gaulin ’23 scores in No. 24 women’s soccer 1-0 win over Russell Sage

Hamilton College's Ashlyn Gaulin '23 scored in the 67th minute and lifted the nationally ranked No. 24 Continentals to a 1-0 non-conference victory over the Russell Sage College Gators on Wednesday afternoon at Albany College of Pharmacy Stadium.

The Continentals (5-0-2 overall) out-shot the Gators 25-2 and had a 9-2 edge on corner kicks. Cat Gambino '22 led the Continentals with five shots, three of which were on goal. Isabella Roselli '22 recorded four shots with three on net and Caroline Dawson '23 had three shots with two on net. Zoe Katz '24 recorded one save for her second consecutive shutout. Mickaela Buzzy made 12 stops and Kierstin Lynch had one for Sage (2-5-2).

Gaulin capitalized in the 67th minute with an assist from Rylie Mutton '23. Mutton dribbled through two defenders down the right side and crossed it from outside of the box into the left corner where Gaulin tapped it in for her first goal this season and fifth of her Hamilton career. Mutton leads the team with 10 points on four goals and two assists.

Shayna Polsky '25 had a chance to score for the Continentals in the 15th minute off a corner kick by Gaulin. The ball landed on the far side of the box and bounced a few times before Polsky shot it towards the bottom-right corner, but Buzzy made the plunging save.

Gambino had two chances to score. The first came in the 27th minute after she shot the ball from the top-left corner just inside the box right into the keeper's reach. The next was in the 34th minute off a corner kick by Olivia Zubarik '25 that hit the post and was redirected. The ball landed right in front of Gambino but her shot was too high.

In the 54th minute Sarah Roth '25 took a shot from the right side that was knocked away but came right back out in front of the net. Aidan Leahey '22 pursued the rebound but her shot was wide.

Hamilton travels to Waterville, Maine, as they take on NESCAC foe Colby College at 11 a.m on Saturday, Oct. 2.
