The Hamilton College Continentals opened the 2021-22 season with a victory over Trinity College during a tri-meet that also included Colby College and was held at Wesleyan University Natatorium on Sunday afternoon.
Hamilton edged Trinity 147-144 and fell to Colby, 194-100. The Continentals return to Wesleyan on Saturday, Dec. 4 for the Division III Connecticut Cup Championships.
Jack Jee '24, who already holds school records in the 50- and 100-yard butterfly, was part of four event wins. He finished first in the 50 fly with a time of 23.28 seconds, won the 100 fly in 51.64 seconds and took the top spot in the 200 individual medley with a time of 1:57.73.
Jee was part of the winning 200 medley relay along with
Ethan del Rosario '24, Emilio Vicioso '23 and
Nick Wilkins '22. Their time of 1:36.91 finished one one-hundredth of a second ahead of Colby. Jee passed the Colby and Trinity swimmers with a 50 fly split time of 23.02 seconds and Wilkins made the lead stand up.
Wilkins grabbed first place in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 59.15 seconds, was third in the 200 IM in 2:00.10, and picked up valuable points by finishing fourth in the 50 freestyle with a time of 21.93 seconds.
Vicioso captured first place in the 50 breast (26.76 seconds) and was runner-up to Wilkins in the 100 breast (59.76 seconds).
Nate Hays '23 ended up third in the 50 breast (27.96 seconds) and fourth in the 100 breast (1:01.24).
Luke Engel '25Â landed in third place in the 500 free (4:56.68).
