Men's basketball falls as four players score in double figures

Singh '25 and Anderson '22 pace the Continentals with 19 apiece at Case Western Reserve

Case Western Reserve University went on a 30-8 run in the second half and the Spartans recorded an 83-73 non-conference win against the Hamilton College Continentals at Case Western Reserve's Horsburgh Gym in Cleveland, Ohio, on Sunday afternoon.

Hamilton (1-2 overall) dropped both games on its weekend road trip to Ohio. The Continentals were 7 of 15 from 3-point range but committed 19 turnovers. Hamilton is back on the road on Tuesday, Nov. 23 when the Continentals take on Nichols College for another non-conference contest at 6 p.m.

The Spartans (6-1), who are members of the University Athletic Association, won their sixth straight game. Case Western Reserve was just 3 of 19 from beyond the arc but went 22-for-25 at the free-throw line, made 15 steals and owned a 36-5 advantage in bench points.

Eric Anderson '22 tied a career high with 19 points and made three steals for Hamilton. Teja Singh '25 nailed three 3-pointers and finished with 19 points, and Patrick Mogan '23 chipped in 12 points and nine rebounds. Elliott Tirbaso '22, who grew up in nearby Medina, scored 10 points. Nick Osarenren '22 contributed eight points, six boards and three assists.

Mitch Predergast led the Spartans with 13 points and made three steals. Ryan Newton registered 12 points and seven rebounds off the bench, and Brian Hines added 10 points and seven boards. Robert Faller dropped in 10 points and Griffin Kornaker stuffed the stat sheet with eight points, seven assists and five steals.

The score was tied six times early before Case Western Reserve had a 10-1 spurt and took its largest lead of the half at 40-30 with 2:06 left. The Spartans went into the locker room with a 40-32 advantage.

The Continentals roared back early in the second half. Tirbaso's layup put Hamilton up 47-46 with 15:09 remaining, and a layup by Singh gave the Continentals their last lead at 51-49 with 13:53 to go. It was all Case Western Reserve after that as Hamilton scored eight points during the next nine minutes. The Spartans took their biggest lead of the afternoon of 20 points at 79-59 with 4:44 left.
