Mosher ’23 records hat trick, No. 19 women’s soccer blanks Utica 7-0

Hamilton College's Hyla Mosher '23 recorded a hat trick in the nationally ranked No. 19 Continentals' 7-0 non-conference victory over the Utica College Pioneers on Wednesday afternoon at Hamilton's Love Field.

The Continentals (12-1-2 overall) dominated both offensively and defensively as they out-shot the Pioneers 46-0 with 29 shots on goal. Utica -- a member of the Empire 8 Conference -- dropped to 7-7-1 overall.

Mosher's first goal came in the second minute when she deflected a shot from Caroline Dawson '23 into the back of the net from the middle of the six-yard box. Dawson is second on the team with four assists.

Erin Rayhill '25 scored her second collegiate goal and Hamilton's second of the match in the 34th minute. She stole the ball from a Utica defender in the Pioneers' defensive third and kicked it into the bottom left corner from 12 yards out.

Rose McCullough '23 scored her first goal of the season and the Continentals' third goal in the 52nd minute. She booted the ball into the top-right portion of the net from the top of the 18-yard box off a pass from Tori Morelli '24.

In the 65th minute Rylie Mutton '23 scored her seventh goal on a free kick from 25 yards out. A little more than five minutes later, Mutton had the assist on a goal by Olivia Zubarik '25, who scored her third on a one-step high kick from in front of the net. Mutton has a team-high five assists and is tied for the team lead with 19 points.

Mosher scored her last two goals in the 73rd and 74th minutes -- both on headers right in front of the net -- with assists by Isabella Roselli '22. The points were the first two this season for Roselli.

Caity Smith '23 and Zoe Katz '24 played one half each and combined on Hamilton's eighth shutout.

The Continentals will host Tufts University in a 2021 New England Small College Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Championship quarterfinal at Love Field on Saturday, Oct. 30 at 12:30 p.m.
