Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Margaronis ’25, Peplowski ’25 score first goals in men's soccer win

Hamilton College's Pandelis Margaronis '25 and Luke Peplowski '25 recorded their first collegiate goals and lifted the Continentals to a 2-1 NESCAC victory over the Trinity College Bantams on Saturday afternoon at Hamilton's Withiam Field.

The Continentals (6-6-1 overall, 2-6-0 NESCAC) picked up their fourth consecutive win as they out-shot Trinity 13-7 with nine on goal. Thomas Benson '22 recorded two saves in his first conference start this fall and the Bantams' Bernardo Simoes made seven.

The Continentals had four shots in the first six minutes as they tried to set up good momentum while the rain came pouring down. The Hamilton defense held Trinity to just one shot in the first half.

Roth Wetzel '22 had shots on goal in the 47th and 48th minutes, but Simoes made the saves and kept the scoreboard blank. Margaronis scored in the 71st minute when he collected the ball outside the box and put a shot through a defender's legs as he slid and shot it in the bottom-left side.

Trinity (2-10-0, 0-8) tied the score in the 85th minute on a cross from the left side into the middle of the box where Rasheed Sarieh was open. He put it into the back of the net with a one-step kick.

Peplowski scored the match-winning goal 50 seconds later with an assist from Charles Hawthorn '25. Hawthorn passed the ball back to Peplowski who put it in top-shelf from 20 yards out on a diagonal shot.

Hamilton is home again on Wednesday, Oct. 20 against Williams College for a NESCAC match at 3 p.m.
