Box Score

Bowdoin College took a quick lead after the opening tip-off and never relinquished it in an 87-54 NESCAC win against the Hamilton College Continentals at Margaret Bundy Scott Field House on Friday night.

Hamilton (13-6, 1-4 NESCAC) was guided by the offensive efforts of Lauren Getman '18, Camille Walter '20 and Mackenzie Aldridge '20. Getman's game-high 17 points was also a season high, and she added four rebounds. In just 14 minutes off the bench, Walter had a career game by shooting a perfect 3-for-3 from the field with two 3-pointers and went 2-for-2 from the charity stripe for a personal-best 10 points. Aldridge was seeing the floor all night with a career-best eight assists.

Bowdoin (19-0, 5-0) shot over 50 percent from the field to remain undefeated. The Polar Bears are ranked third in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association Top 25 poll and fourth by D3hoops.com. Abby Kelly led Bowdoin with 14 points and two 3-pointers. Maddie Hasson shot 6 for 9 from the field and scored 13 points, and Taylor Choate totaled 12 points. Dorian Cohen grabbed a team-high five rebounds in eight minutes.

Hasson scored the first four points to give the Polar Bears the early 4-0 lead. Hasson would have scored the first six points, but Getman blocked Hasson's first layup attempt just eight seconds into the game. Kate Kerrigan banked in a layup at 7:40 to give the visitors a 6-0 edge before Samantha Srinivasan '18 and Halie Serbent '19 both went 2-for-2 at the free-throw line, making the score 8-4 at 6:21. Srinivasan drained a three at 4:12 off a feed from Aldridge to cut the Polar Bears' lead to 15-9. Aldridge and Walter both went 2-for-2 at the line with 51 and 12 seconds left, respectively. Hannah Graham closed the first 10 minutes of play with a three with five seconds remaining to give Bowdoin a 23-13 lead. The Continentals shot a perfect 100 percent at the line in the first quarter.

Bowdoin opened the second stanza with 10 unanswered points. Hasson started the run with an old-fashioned 3-point play followed by a layup, and Choate finished the streak with a three at 6:59, a steal at 6:45, and a layup at 6:43 to give Bowdoin a 20-point lead at 33-13. Getman ended the run with a jumper at 6:28. Walter reset the shot clock with an offensive board at 5:55, and Aldridge dished to Getman for a bucket from downtown to reduce Hamilton's shortage to 17 points at 35-18 with 5:45 remaining in the quarter. Bowdoin responded with seven straight points to extend its advantage to 24 at 4:30, and Olivia Ware made a 3-pointer with 20 seconds remaining to make the score 53-25 in favor of Bowdoin at the half.

Serbent scored a basket just 12 seconds into the third quarter, but Bowdoin put together an 8-0 run to take a 35-point lead at 62-27 with 6:03 on the clock. Srinivasan dropped in a layup and Walter drained her first three at 4:16 to make the score 62-32. Graham gave Bowdoin its largest lead at 38 points to make the score 72-34 at 2:09. Getman scored the last six points, four of which were unanswered, for Hamilton to end the third quarter down 72-38.

Hamilton continued its 8-0 run into the final quarter. Mia Caterisano '19 posted up and dropped in a layup one minute into the fourth. Scout Lansing '21 followed with a quick steal and Carly O'Hern '20 ended the run with a jumper at 8:24 to make the score 72-42. Rylie Mainville '18 entered the assist column at 5:07 when she found Walter outside the arc for a trey with 5:07 remaining. Walter was not done for the night when she stole the ball from Bowdoin's Sam Roy at 1:08, sprinted to the basket, and avoided the block with a reverse layup. The Continentals shot 40 percent from deep and 100 percent at the charity stripe during the fourth quarter.

Hamilton returns to the court on Saturday, Jan. 27 to take on Colby College at 3 p.m. at Margaret Bundy Scott Field House for Senior Day. In addition, Hamilton and Colby will be lacing up for pediatric cancer on Saturday in support of the Go4theGoal Foundation.
